I searched around the forum, and didn't quite find the answer to my question. Please link if this question has been answered already. On the NVC checklist, do I need all 3: IRS Transcript, Federal Tax returns, and W2s? Aren't they kinda of same thing. Then proof of income too?. I also did a google search and didn't find much that spells out the check list step by step other than that flow chart that helped out some. Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

It is stated on the I-864. But its either or.

  1. Only most current Tax filings is required to be sent in
  2. Send either Tax forms(all of it and the schedules) and W2- current filing or
  3. Tax Transcripts- Current filing
  4. Most current pay stub (If its Year -to-date) if not (optional)
  5. Last 6 months of pay stubs (optional)
  6. Letter of employment - job title, years in the position, salary/hourly wages, state full/part-time, contact person. (optional)

The other 2 years is optional. Some include if they want to prove strong History of work.

So proof of relationship is the marriage certificate. Then why does it ask for marriage certificate a second time?

Whats so hard? I am not understanding your confusing.

If you are asking why does USCIS ask for the marriage certificate and NVC also They are two different bodies of government. They both have their own rules and documents that are needed. USCIS approves your I-130 petition. NVC just collects our AOS and IV documents and makes sure everything is in order for the interview.

But wait you have to pay $2500 and you are 80% done with the process.

Never mind I have decided to pay the 2500 fee for a lawyer. Simplicity eludes this process.

Oh I see your post on your confusion. Let me help.

"I am absolutely going nuts trying to figure the document cover sheet. I get that i the petitioner have to provide financial document. So does #4 the supporting documents all pertain to my wife or both? Is there a step by step instruction on trying to figure this enigma out? You think they would provide instructions."

I assume you are talking about the Welcome Letter. It's real simple. Please read the NV process wiki. Supporting documents is for AOS and fr IV. Obviously the IV package is for the immigrant.
