Affidavit of support

I was recently laid off and both of my mom and my sister would like to be the joint-sponsor for my wife. My sister's income should be more than enough but would it help if my mom is also listed as a 2nd co-sponsor?

Unless one declares the other on their taxes they cannot both be a joint sponsor. You can have 1 or the other unless they're household members. If your sister's income is enough then use hers and say thank you. :)

Thanks for asking the question Smartwater. I have a similar issue with using my parents for the affidavit of support, but I had a couple questions maybe you or others could help me with:

-My parents (they live together) want to file the affidavit of support for my fiancee. Do they each fill one out? Or do they both put their names on the one form?

-I am unemployed and a student not making much money, so do I still fill out an affidavit of support?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

-Matt

Also, do you know if my parents fill out the I-134 or I-864? I have read about both but I am still confused. Thanks!

hi

only one of them can fill out the i134, for the k1 fiancé petition, you can have only one joint sponsor

the i864 and i864A are for the adjustment of status package once you marry your fiancé
