I'm in the uk forum so I was wondering if anyone who've had their interview in London could advise me? Trouble is Jamals Birth cirt has a slightly different name than on his passport (long story) and we are worried it might delay us if we have to produce his birth cert and not his passport. Thanks

Assuming that Jamal is the UKC, he will need his birth certificate AND a copy for the interview.

How big of a difference? If it's a misspelling, I am sure it won't be a problem. They will see what happened and they wouldn't have reason to question whether it's two different people. If it's more than just a misspelling, I'm not sure how it would be handled. I would have a copy of his passport and a copy of his birth certificate with you. The packet you'll receive will tell you, but I say it's better to be overprepared at the interview.

Jamal is the USC. The name on his birth cert is a double barrelled sir name due to an error that was made when his birth was registered. The name he uses and has been using is just a single name sirname, this is what is on his passport.

I wasn't asked to show my fiance's (USC) birth cert at the interview, in fact nothing of his at all.

I only sent my wife a copy of my passport which the consulate already has from filling the K1 paperwork, But mostly I had travel a couple of times after i initially sent my K1, so i wanted to add those new customs stamps to show ongoing, and also got a 10 year indian visitor visa also. but they didn't check none of those stuff my wife took. Just basic question, how long we've known each other, where i am from, where I work at, my date of birth, what city I was born and that was it.

I had my interview in London and they wanted to see my birth certificate but certainly didnt ask for my now husband's birth certificate (he is the USC and I am the UKC). In fact all I was asked was to confirm his full name, and confirm the state he resided in. That was it. I was in and out of there in 30 minutes flat (including the time waiting to schedule my passport delivery from the London embassy to my home). I had mounds of paperwork with me, including photos and emails, valentine and birthday cards, affidavits, etc). They didnt want to see anything. Basically they have the approved paperwork in front of them and when they see the relationship is bonafide, it will all be fine.

The thing to remember is that as Jamal is the petitioner, USCIS have already seen all the documents pertaining to him. The interview is about YOU the beneficiary. It's about your police cert, birth certs, medical, etc etc and then the interview. The only thing they require, at the London embassy, from the USC is the affidavit of support and any evidence you wish to take with you.

If his name is different on the BC to the passport, and it was a problem, then I am sure USCIS would have asked about it before NOA2.
