We're getting ready to put my wife's ROC package together to send it in June, as soon as we hit the 90 day mark. Some financial co-mingling we could not do immediately after marriage because she was in Vietnam and did not have a SSN. All bills are in my name because I bought the house and lived here a few years before we got married. She also did not started using her credit card until recently because she didn't have a license so everytime we went somewhere, we'd go together and I'd just use my card. I plan on attaching explanations for all these discrepancies (should we do one whole letter to explain all of this or a separate letter per issue). Any feedback and advice would be very much appreciated. I know they say to include evidences from the start of the marriage, but she didn't enter the US until over a year after we got married so there's only so much financial co-mingling evidences that we can include because no banks or anybody would allow me to add her without a SSN.

Evidences that we have:

1. Tax transcripts for (2013, 2014, 2015)

2. Phone bills showing her name on the count and our texts and phone calls to each other (2014,2015, 2016)

3. Checks showing her name on the checking and savings account paying towards utilities

4. Statement from our bank showing joint ownership

5. CC statements (2014, 2015, 2016).

6. Mortgage Statements (we recently refinanced in December). Will also include the deed with both of our names on it.

7. Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance showing my wife as the beneficiary

8. 401k and Roth IRA showing my wife as the beneficiary

9. Water and Sewer bill from city showing both of our names (this only started showing up after we refinanced our home and I added her on the deed)

10. Car/home insurance showing both names. Car registrations and title showing both names.

11. Our child's birth certificate and baptism.

12. Prenatal visits and medical statements showing same address as me and paid from our joint HSA and FSA account, as well as showing each other as the emergency contact.

13. Last Will, Medical Power of Attorney, and Financial Power of Attorney.

14. Copy of state ID showing same address.

15. Loads and loads of pictures taken.

Thanks again guys!

Thank you for the replies guys! A few questions:

1. Some statements don't go all the way back to when we got married and some monthly statements only go back a few months, will this be an issue?

2. Can someone provide an example of a cover letter and letter of explanation?

3. How do they like the packet but together? Stapled, paper clipped or something else?

Thanks!

You have plenty of good evidence. Make sure that for whatever joint documents you have (bank statements, credit card statements, utility bills etc.) that you send monthly or quarterly statements that trace back as far as possible since you got married. Good luck!

My husband and I are filing this March. I have a quick question -- for statement of bank accounts and tax transcripts -- is it ok not to show the entire account number/social security numbers? Just concerned about identity theft.

The US government can see whatever they want about you. Don't bother blacking out numbers. No one at the USCIS is going to steal your identity.
