Hello everyone, first post :dancing:, so I'll get down to business I had my K1 visa interview on the 24th February everything went smoothly nice people and the interviewer told me I was approved and that I should receive my passport and visa within 2 weeks keep in mind i was not given any 221g form or anything and that he kept my passport, all was well so i broke the news to my fiancee and now over 2 weeks later iv'e herd nothing, so i checked it on the US department of state visa status and it shows i am in "Administrative processing since 1st March and that is when it was last update, so it's been that way for 11 days not i'm just confused i have a plane booked for the 22nd under the fact I was told i'd have it by now, I was just wondering if anyone has had the same experience and how long this is really going to take, we've already been apart so long. thank you :clock:

This is posted EVERY SINGLE DAY. Everybody has some sort of administrative processing, sometimes it's only a few days...sometimes it's months....but everyone's visa undergoes AP. Mine showed "ready for interview" for a month after interview then suddenly went ap to issued in a matter of hours on one Friday afternoon. As you didn't get a 221 you should get yours soon....and I know it probably goes without saying at this point but never make plans or buy tickets until the visa is in your hands.

Case status will show it is in administrative processing while visa is being processed/issued. Processing and administering your visa is a type of administrative processing.

~ Moved from K-1 Process to K-1 Progress Reports -topic is case status ~

The typical time for a London K1 is two days of administrative processing prior to issue. Yours sounds like it is undergoing further security checks. A little more discussion about it in the UK forum http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide-do-not-post-questions-in-thread/?p=6741253

There is no typical time once you get in that further AP. It is rare in London. Some clear about 4 weeks after interview. The embassy will not discuss it, give you any clue what is going on, or expedite it when it is security related. If you want to contact them to make sure it didn't simply get misplaced, this is the contact form https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/visa-information-services/contact-us-immigrant-visas/u-s-embassy-london-visa-unit-contact-form/?_ga=1.224800787.847207316.1438020395

To be fair, Rapid Visa can put together a nice petition for you but they don't get shortcuts over DIY folks nor have any control over your personal security checks.

If you are born and bred British, as well as your parents, have never been to a terrorist country, have no special scientific skills in bomb making or chemicals, and do not have the same name as anybody on a watch list, then not sure what could be holding you up. Otherwise they have to check to make sure you clear additional security databases. Sometimes that means getting additional information from another location and waiting on somebody to pull a file and clear you, which kinda puts you in the waiting queue again. It is all rather secretive when it's one of those security things.

And it could be as simple as the visa printer broke or ran out of ink so there there's a few days of backlog to work through. London issues maybe a hundred visas a day and some glitch could push times longer.

Thinking about it my middle name on my birth certificate is Michael yet on my passport it reads Micheal they mi spelt it but iv'e had no issue over it travelling or they didn't mention it throughout the process i wonder if this is why im on AP, and yeah british born and bred no ties to anything fishy
