Hi - I've been lurking in this forum for a while but this is my first post. Great information!! I've already been subjected to the immigration process in Canada when I moved from Australia but that was 13 years ago. Can't believe I'm about to do it again for the US.

When I did Canadian immigration, I had to get a Police Record & fingerprinting from Australia. Since then, I have not lived in Australia & I understand I will need a new Police Record check from Canada to put with my application to immigrate to the USA now I'm engaged to a USC. But do I need a new Police Record check from Australia if I haven't lived there in 13 years?

If I do have to get one, could I request it in advance or does it have to be dated after starting the K3 process? (Trying to save time & $$.)

Thanks in advance.

Ali

Police reports are typically only good for residence abroad for 1 year. If beyond that time frame you will need to refresh it.

YMMV

Yup, only good for one year. Also you will need to obtain police certificates from every country you lived at for more than 6 months since the age of 16.
