I am completely overwhelmed. I just logged on to the Ankara Embassy, for K-1 info. We just received NOA1 at VSC, and I want to prepare so when he receives packet 3 we are ready.

In addition to:

1. Original Birth Certificates from each

2. Passport photos from each

3. I 134 from me with evidence (no problem here- that's a breeze)

He needs to get:

4. Court prison records

5. Police certificate

6. Passport copy

We need to get:

7. More evidence of relationship (e-mails, photos etc..)

8. 4 more passport photos of each

ALL OF THE ABOVE, NOT TOO TAXING- but

9. Form DS 230 Part I( Biographic Data)- I can't find this anywhere on the UScis site

10. Form DS - 156 (2 copies with original signatures)

11. DS-157 (male Turks between 16-45)

One of the big problems is that all of these are required to have certified translations (it costs a fortune) he paid nearly $100 for two letters for the I 129F.

UGGHHH- why is this so difficult? I know- TimsDaisy will tell me I'm stressing too much. The problem is that I am a perfectionist, and Omer is so 'lassaiz - faire' about everything!!! I filled in the G325A for him, but I am not allowed to on the above forms.

We will get through....

Just had to vent!

CAUTION: Check the embassy website of your beneficiary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are things there not in this forum!

You wont find any of the DS series of forms on the USCIS because for the time being you are finished with USCIS and are now dealing with the Department of State........ Google is your friend....

YMMV

Why do they have to be translated? Everywhere I read it states that info for the interview can be in the local language or English. You had to have translated info for I129F because it was being processed in the US.

Also, if you both sit down together, can't you translate the documents yourself? At the bottom of the translated document you just have to state that to the best of your knowledge the translation is true & accurate, and get your signature notarized.

Make sure you find an actual government source for forms: http://www.state.gov/m/a/dir/forms/

It's okay to use a 3d party just to check things out and educate yourself on the forms that will be coming in your packet - but if you ever need anything to really use, find one on a government site! (Or just make damn sure the 3d party one is the current form - don't get stuck when you're so far along in the process!)

You ask "Why do they have to be translated"? Each embassy differs for this question from my inquiries. The Ankara Embassy in Turkey requies certified and notarized translation of every document.

It is unfortunate and quite costly.

But, in the long run- I love him....It is well worth the price for both of us :)

Thank you for the supportive replies- particularly for the DS forms which I have not been able to find. To answer the questiojn about why we can't just figure it out together----- he is over 4,000 miles away.

And if anyone knows anything about American politics in this age of " The War Against Terrorism" he is a simple God loving Muslim man.

As a 32 year old Muslim man- his chances are slim to none of us being together in the USA. That is a fact.

In all likelihood, I will have to move to Turkey.

Where's your data supporting the belief that he'll be denied because he is a 32 year old Muslim man?

He may be closely scrutinized, but I guarantee you he's not alone and probably not severly handicapped in his quest to join you here.

Seriously - your comments have me floored - I don't recall you expressing this kind of doubt before this post. What's up with that?

Is there anything on the forms asking about religion? Is there a reason it would necessarily come up in paperwork or an interview?

My guy got turned away at the border and he's an as-white-as-they-come British Anglican. They can get testy with anyone from anywhere.

Yeah, I have to agree. I'm not saying the US government does not break the 1st amendment quite frequently, but in cases such as this, I think they will hold to it! Like they said, he may be scrutinized a bit at the interview (perhaps more so than others, but I'd doubt it). IF they did deny him and you suspected it was based on religion, that's a case I'd send directly to a lawyer, the ACLU, etc.!!

I'm sure you'll be fine! And like others mentioned, I don't think it asks ANYWHERE about religion.

A night's sleep has helped some- I think yesterday reading the Ankara website just floored me. I really thought we were over the biggest hurdle with the original packet.

About religion- no there's nothing there about that. That was my paranoia.

What it does require is an additional form for Iranians seeking entry to the USA through Turkey and Turkish men between 18 and 45. (This is how I drew the conclusion)

Thanks for listening,

Christine
