Jimmy,

I have a question, are early filer's (applicants that file within the 90 day period before there GC anniversary) restricted from any N400 milestones due to their anniversary date (priority date)?

There has been some conversation in the Feb 2016 N400 thread that suggests, inline interview letters, interviews or maybe oath ceremonies are not scheduled until the applicant has reached their GC anniversary date.

Could you shed some light on this?

Hi... not sure why you're asking me specifically, but I'll be happy to give you my opinion... I think that because I like to talk a lot people actually think I know what I'm talking about... :-)

I haven't read the February 2016 thread in the past few weeks, so I can't comment on the conversation there.

However, here's what I know:

If you apply early:

1- it is very unlikely that you'll be placed inline earlier than 1 month before your anniversary date.

2- Most early applicants (60% or more each month) are placed inline exactly one month before their anniversary date.). For example, in Dec 2015, 10 VJ members applied early and 8 were placed inline exactly one month before their anniversary or on the following non-weekend day.

3- You can't legally be naturalized before your anniversary date.

4- While you can legally be interviewed before your anniversary date, most offices seem to avoid this. Some will interview you and then schedule an oath date after the interview and some will avoid scheduling an interview before the anniversary date. Houston for example, has turned away several applicants who were scheduled (mistakenly, I guess) for interviews before the anniversary date.

So back to your question:

-Very unlikely that you'll be inline more than a month before your anniversary date.

-Possible that you'll be interviewed before your anniversary, but this depends on your local office.

-Not possible to become a citizen before your anniversary date (unless the requirement is waived under special circumstances).

Also, just a correction; there's no inline letter. That is just an e-notification.

Finally, I'll just add that it's always wise to rely on multiple answers... there are VJ users on here who know so much more about this than I do... so I'm glad that you posted this rather than sending a private message.

Good luck to you!

Lol they asked you Jimmy because whether you like it or not you are one of the experts in regards to N400s!

Anyway I agree with everything you said. I dont know if its ever going to really happen but one day I would like to see every applications processed so quickly that this becomes an issue. Probably not going to happen but its nice to dream.
