Hello everybody!

I am a GC holder and I am planning to visit my sister in Toronto

this coming April.

Do i need to have a visa to enter Canada?

aug.2-06----K1&K2 Aos &Ead send to Chicago

aug.15-06---K2 Aos transfer to CSC

sept.6-06----Biometrics

Sept.12-06---receive K2 GC

Sept20-06----K1 Transfer to CSC

Oct16-06---receive EAD

Dec11-06---receive RFE letter(asking what already they have)marriage cert.

Dec18-06---CSC receive the RFE they ask

Dec.20-06---I receive an email saying they already order and send the welcome address

Dec25-06---I receive an email saying they sent the approval notice

Dec26-----Receive already my welcome letter and GC

Hi Tcav05,

Good luck on your immigration journey. In answer to your question, as a US Permanent Resident, no, you don't need a visa to enter Canada. All you need is your US Green Card. When I went to Canada for a visit recently, I just showed the Canadian officials my Green Card and my Canadian Passport (to show that I was already a Canadian Citizen). And on the way back to the USA, I just showed the US officials my US Green Card. I was in/out on both ends of the border in 10 mins.

The OP, by the looks of her profile is not Canadian, but from the Philippines. I "thought" I read on VJ that it would be ok fort a green card holder from the philippines to visit canada without any further visa, but have no concrete evidence to back that up.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

VISITOR VISA EXEMPTIONS

Many people do not require a visa to visit Canada. These include:

citizens of Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Botswana, Brunei, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel (National Passport holders only), Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Namibia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Portugal, Republic of Korea, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, San Marino, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Spain, Swaziland, Sweden, Slovenia, Switzerland, United States, and Western Samoa;

persons lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence who are in possession of their alien registration card (Green card) or can provide other evidence of permanent residence.

take both your green card and your current passport with you. You will likely be asked to see both when re-entering the US.

Like whats that?? No hello's or how are you doing, " or guess what? I got my interview !! So impersonal, jeesh!!! lol I may have to get my wife to call up some of her old State Dept buds and get them to cancel that interview. lol
