Hi everyone,

My fiancé and my self had a speedy process. We started our visa journey around October 2015 and by February 22, 2016 we had our interview. The the council approved the visa and said:” Okay, that will be all. Congratulations, in 2 weeks you can pick up the passport”

We had more proof of our relationship then needed, but none was asked for. We were only asked how we met, when do we plan on getting married, and my fiancé works”

Our interview was in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

On march 7th I went to pick up the passport at the selected location (galleria 360) and I was told that the passport was still at the embassy where the interview took place. That it wasn’t ready yet.

We actually thought that the passport would be ready by the end of the 2nd week as the council said and made plans. I quit my job as a doctor in a private hospital and my fiancé purchased my flight. Now I am without a job and we had to cancel the flight.

When I check our case online (CEAC visa check status) there are 2 cases. 1st Case# and additional 01, 2nd Case# and additional 02. Both cases updated after interview. Case 01 updated feb 29 and case 2 on feb 24. The case still says READY for interview but we had the interview on the 22nd of February.

How would it usually take for the visa to be issued?

should our case be updated to something other then READY?

What do we do next?

does it often take this long for the issuing of the visa after the interview is passed?

Thanks in advance..

changed last 2 numbers in cases.

Ours stayed on ready for interview for a month after the interview, then changed to issued and got it the week after that. It's truly different for every single person.

Thanks, hopefully our case is the same wait period. 2 more weeks won't hurt. At least now I can look forward to a date and hope for a change to issue.

***UPDATE***

This morning (7:00 Am) one of our case (case number 1) changed status from READY to AP.

Later this afternoon I received a call from the American consulate that the council forgot to take my fingerprints the day of the interview, and asked me to pass by this week. that because of this our case hadn't moved on forward and fell onto AP.

Ouch that sucks, maybe you'll see movement after that.

Tomorrow I have to go and have my biometrics taken. I will see how it goes and post it. Hang in there, I know it is frustrating. I hope this doesn't happen to you guys; but if it reaches to 2 months from the interview, you should contact the embassy and ask about the case.

Yea I've called and that's what they told me. We are on day 30 now. Halfway I guess. Hopefully soon

There is already a thread on this

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/571866-getting-passport-back-dominican-republic/

It goes READY> AP> READY> ISSUED.

For the D.R. most status updates happen Mondays and Thursdays (although this is an assumption).

Good luck.

***UPDATE***

Went to have my biometrics taken at the U.S embassy. The same counsel that saw me on Feb 22, the day of the interview is who saw me today. After waiting for 13 others in front of me with the same issue, the counsel asked about my fiance and I said: "He had to return". He asked me when I am leaving? I said; "As soon as you hand me my passport". He asked if he could go to the wedding and I said if you go to NY yes. Then he apologized for the mistake and said in 2 weeks to go pick up the passport.
