hello,

we have our interview scheduled for early may and we just realized that i mistakenly transposed the month and day of her daughter's birthday. we learned of this today upon further inspection of packet 4.

her daughter is not interviewing/applying for a visa in may, but she may follow at later date. should we try to fix this before or after my fiance's interview? will this problem jepardize our visa process? should we stay quiet about the problem and hope it gets overlooked (or not)? is there a way to correct this before the interview?

does anyone know what we should do about this?

thank you,

When you go to your K-1 interview, take the child's birth certificate, and have them correct her birthdate. Just explain what happened with you transposing the two numbers.

It isn't that big of a deal at this point. It will become a bigger deal at the K-2 interview stage, so it is a good idea to correct it now and then you won't have any problems later when the K-2 interview comes along.

Were you aware that the K-2 Visa must be obtained (not just applied for) within one year of obtaining the K-1 Visa? I'm just asking because a lot of people are confused about this point.

Good luck.

A K-2 visa is issued for any children of K-1 visa holders.

and i thought i had this stuff down. we've had a relatively uneventful process and have been feeling good throughout the process (we quadruple checked everything and feel like we've been ahead of the curve since day one); until today when we realized that i transposed the month and day of my fiance's daughter's birthday. thanks for the advice and no, i was not aware that her daughter will have to obtain her visa within a year. (i assumed that you had to start the process within a year). that's a big difference and we'll have to get onto it. thanks.

i was leaning to letting the d.o.b. mistake go until the interview and unless i hear otherwise; will. i think it might cause more problems trying to fix it compared to doing it the day of the interview. yes?

thanks again and if anyone knows differently, please respond.
