Given a white paper that said "how to complete application by mail" is this a 221g ?

So I was given a paper that said how to mail in my passport as it wasn't laminated, it didn't say 221g or have any specific information on it except how to mail it through Canada post back to the consulate..

I ended up getting my passport fixed and brought it back to the consulate 30 min after I left my interview with that paper.. Does that mean that I got a 221g? Should I be on extra AP or no because I brought it right back and they took it..I asked if it was approved when I handed it in ( to a different guy who I'm assuming was a supervisor of some kind) and he said it will be and I will get an email when it's ready but I know they normally tell people something like in the next 2 weeks ?

Well, it sounds like you may have received a 221g at first, but I always thought it actually said it on it... But regardless, since you went back and gave them your passport, you should be okay.

What does your CEAC status show as the status? Is still set to READY? You should see it change today or tomorrow to hopefully ISSUED.

Yeah, it changed to AP on the day of my interview.. I wasn't sure if it was a 221g because it was just a print out with general information.. I hope you're right and it changes to issued soon !!

Everyone goes through a few days of ap right ?

So for my case - the status was never AP.

After interview it stayed ready a couple days and then changed to Issued. The subtext underneath said it was undergoing mandatory administrative processing. Then the next day it stayed Issued, but the subtext changed to Final processing, if you don't receive in ( 5 days blah blah blah.

But the status itself never showed AP for me.

okay .,, im hoping its an over site since i was supposed to mail in documents that it was put in AP .. it sounds like the same subtext, mandatory administrative may take a few weeks if you were asked for anything mail it in .. it hasn't updated today, hopefully it changes to something different tomorrow !

I can't see why it would need extra AP if i dropped it off not even 30 min after i walked out the door ..at least that's what i hope !!!

Hopefully !! I had the really nice guy that everyone talks about, i asked him if it could be fixed today and he told me he would be very suprised if they laminated it on the spot, so i honestly think he thought getting a new one and mailing it in was my only option, so would have automatically put it in AP..

My fiancé Josh was there on the same day. He was also given that white paper and had to send in something (apparently Canada issues only divorce orders and you have to request divorce certificates, which is what the US needs).

He mailed it back in the same day. Our CEAC status says Administrative Processing, but the date first said March 9, and then changed to March 10 (the day Canada Post said his certificate was delivered).

When I emailed, they were very unhelpful, unfortunately.

I'm hoping we are not stuck in AP for awhile!

I'll be interested to see how your case progresses as well! Good luck!

I actually talked to Josh that morning !!! Sorry to hear about not having the right paper !!

I was told that it would only delay me a week or so when i mailed it in, but then ended up handing it in so im hoping that means less delay !!

Good luck to you as well !!

Anything after the interview can take a week to several months. K1 normally have AP of a week or two anyhow.

That's interesting - during the NVC stage I sent them my divorce certificate, and we got a checklist. I had to send in the actual divorce order.

That is interesting... We got through the whole process without anyone saying that what we had submitted (the order) was wrong. It was only at the interview where he told him that he needed the certificate.

The interviewer told him that Canada usually issues Divorce orders, and if you want the certificate you have to go back after a few weeks to request it- no one ever told us this!

Maybe they really need both the order and the certificate? The whole thing seems strange and I wish they were a little more clear about what is needed. Or at least told us a little earlier in the process we were missing something!
