Hello Friends, I applied for my fathers US Visitor visa and we attended the interview together on 4th Dec 2015 he was given a yellow slip 221(g) stating that the visa need further administrative processing and it is still in the same state. Any suggestions please? I emailed the embassy but below was their reply sad.gif

Thank you for your email regarding the status of your nonimmigrant visa application. We continue to monitor your case but unfortunately it remains pending. We will contact you as soon as we are able to continue processing your case to conclusion.

I'm assuming your father isn't a Canadian citizen. What country is he a citizen of? They might be doing additional background checks depending on what country.

Right he is an Indian Citizen, how long does it take? I read on the Toronto US Visa website that most cases are resolved with 90 days time. It is more than 90 days now where as during the interview the officer had said that it will take one month.

Yes this is true, but they most likely are doing security checks before they issue the visa which is interesting since I thought it was usually either an approval or a denial for a visitors visa.

No one can tell how long AP will take, this could be a few days or years...it's all just up to however long it takes for them to run their checks.

It takes as long as it takes, nothing you can do about it apart from wait.

The Visa fee is valid for one year and unless they reject, we cannot re-apply. Does this mean we have to wait for one year to reapply? I was thinking of going to India and applying for his visa from there which is most preferred. My elder sibling is the USA and we thought we could go together to his place, never thought this would lead us to a black hole.

AP is AP

Would start from scratch with a new application.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

You could, why you would want to is another issue.
