Good day to all of you.

My husband and I got married in 2014. He is the USC, while I am currently on an A2 visa for the past 10 years. *A2 are visas given to employees of foreign governments in the USA*

We filed our I-130 on February 25, 2016 and got the Form I-797 on March 7 in the mail saying that our Form I-130 is in "process." Every time I check my status (through the receipt number) on the USCIS website, it says "it does not recognize the receipt number." Why is it doing that? Also, will I get another NOA in the mail? I've been reading the threads on here and it seems like most of you got it. Also, at this point, is it ok for me to send the I-495, even though our first NOA says "processing?"

Thanks a lot.

You could've sent both the I-130 and I-485 together -- it would've been easier actually. http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2

But, if you've already received the first NOA1 for the I-130, you can use that notice to file the I-485. As a spouse of a USC, you do not need to wait for a visa number to be available once its approved, so you can just attach the I-130 NOA1 and file.

Are you using the "EAC/WAC..." number? It may be that they haven't updated their system. Just call USCIS to confirm that the receipt number is correct.

We had the same problem when we filed AOS. Our petition was received December 10th, but we couldn't see the case on USCIS until January 14th when the fingerprint fees were updated as received. We had the NOA's a little after December 22nd. The case will pop up - this happens from time to time - but it will come.

Thanks teeak for your response!!! I appreciate it.

I could have done the concurrent filing, but I did not. Hehe :) I was waiting for a document needed for the I-485 and it wasn't available yet so I decided to go ahead and file the I-130.

My receipt starts with the letter "Y." I guess I just have to wait until USCIS website gets updated (tapping fingers).

Thank you, Amhara. I wish you all the best!!! (L)

Oooh, you know I think the 'YSC' is for the new USCIS service center -- I believe it's Potomac.

There have been other VJ members here who've had trouble checking their case status, it may be because Potomac is still new and they haven't updated their systems yet.
