Once you schedule your interview you can then go to your medical.

For the UK we can't schedule an interview at all, it gets assigned, and only after the medical is completed.

From what I can tell, as soon as you get the NVC number, you can book your medical as soon as they have space.

My intent is to call them as soon as the NVC confirms my number, and book the medical, then submit the online form to London as well.

My bad I had it backwards. OP here ya go.

The visa interview will not be scheduled until the Embassy has received the results of the medical examination, so get the medical scheduled early, but after you have returned the forms and checklist so your files will match up.

You will be asked to bring your Police Certificate to the medical appointment.

When we got our case number (LND) from NYC my hubby (then fiancé) called to schedule his medical with Knightsbridge. I called NYC every other day to see if they had our number lol I was eager

Book it whenever you want after obtaining the LND. The NVC will eventually and maybe also never send you a letter saying they have your case and have sent it to London. But it will be in London looooong before you get that letter, if you ever do.

You can look at my timeline below, to see when I had the number vs how quickly the case got to London. At any rate though you can book an appointment for Knightsbridge in as many weeks as you want. We waited a while for the appointment because of his work obligations and how far away he lived.

There is a fussy way mentioned here on the forums of how you can figure out when the NVC sends the case.. you can actually track it. It took some jiggering iirc but we figured out when it had been sent, and that it took about 3 days snailmail time to arrive, and then a few more for them to be 'ready'. You can also choose to wait until London sends out packet 3 saying they are ready, but this isn't a needed step either, and some don't get that letter.

The correct answer as given by London is wait until London (not NVC) sends you a letter saying you may begin any part of that process.

A safe alternative is wait for your CEAC status to say "ready" before you submit forms or have a medical exam.

Other than that just make a guess. If you book 3 weeks out and your case turns to ready on Monday, you could actually attend earlier than you booked. It's kinda up to you when you vary the plan London tells you to follow.

Hopefully you got your shots sorted already. I forgot if you saw your GP yet.

Yes, I got a letter with my medical conditions, my shots and my police check done already and my fiance is getting a letter from work about his income. I'll start sorting out the list of paperwork to take with me when I find out but for the most part I have most of the documents I think I will need for interview/medical in a separate file.

CR1- Forms, and documents to NVC. Interview assigned by NVC. Get medical before interview date.

K1- No processing at NVC. Forms and medical go to consulate first. London assigns interview. Documents go to interview, not mailed anywhere.

Once I got our LND number on 2/18/2016 and confirmed that the case was forwarded to the embassy the next day, the following monday we booked the medical appointment for 3/2/2016. The embassy got our packet on the 24th and they mailed out packet 3 on the 26th. In case we didn't get packet 3 in time, we were prepared to bring the letter I received from the NVC listing our case number and telling us that the case was forwarded to the embassy. We had planned to call to make sure that was alright, but it ended up not being necessary. Hope that helps!
