Hey everyone,

I am just wondering where I can find step by step instructions on filing for a CR-1 visa? Where can I find checklists for each stage of the visa process? OMG this is all so confusing. Thank you in advance.

Do I send all the supporting evidence when I send my I-130 in? Do I send it to the NVC? I know my husband will take it with him to the US Embassy in Casablanca but I am not exactly sure of what to send to USCIS and NVC. I really appreciate any help!

Thank you!!! One other quick question??? Does he need my original birth certificate and my joint sponsor's original birth certificate?

You're getting way ahead of yourself. He doesn't need any originals until his interview and that'll be a year or more after you first file the I-130. Complete step 1 and then start thinking about the next steps after that.

My Convoluted Story (see my profile for more details)
Jun 2009 - Met on Facebook
Mar 2010 - Visited Morocco for the first time, got engaged
Dec 30, 2011 - Wedding in Morocco (5th visit)
I-130/CR-1 (first time around)
31 Aug 2012 - Priority Date (Vermont, transferred to NBC)
31 Dec 2012 - NOA2
27Jul 2013 - Broke up/Separation (while waiting for case complete at NVC)
9 Jan 2014 - Filed for divorce in US (never completed)
4 Apr 2014 - USCIS NOIR
May 2015 - Reconciliation
Nov 2015 - Vacation together in Spain (7th in-person visit with each other)
I-130/IR-1 (second time around)
4 Feb 2016 - Priority Date
19 Apr 2016 - NOA2

17 May 2016 - NVC Case Number Assigned

31 May 2016 - Sent AOS/IV package to NVC

5 Jul 2016 - NVC Case Complete

10 Aug 2016 - Medical Exam

25 Aug 2016 - Interview - APPROVED

1 Sep 2016 - Husband picked up his visa

Don't get overwhelmed, this is only the start.

Right now you fill out forms I-130, G-325 (two, one for you and one for spouse, make sure spouse signs the G-325) and optional 1145. All supporting documents should be copies. Then write a cover letter listing documents and explaining anything that needs explaining. Send package with payment to the USCIS Chicago lockbox (unless you are able to file DCF) You then receive NOA1 (received) service center and case # will be assigned. Make sure you copy the complete package before sending......then wait and wait...you will get a NOA2 petition approved.

Then you will get a welcome letter from NVC and a check list on what documents to send....start collecting them after you send your CR-1 petition. Hope this helps

yes, for Morocco, if you do not send original to USCIS, they will want it at NVC stage

Morocco applications do not accept copies like other countries / my lawyer sent copy of marriage and NVC said this is not original / it is not on the size paper they use / they also asked for originals of all docucents including birth certificates with translated certified copies attached

I can give you the names of several moroccans who have gone thru this and your infromation must be from them as other countries are much different

you are not getting ahead of yourself if you prepare now

best of luck to you'

FOR ALL VISAS AND ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS REGARDLESS OF COUNTRY OF ORIGIN...

You do not need to provide originals to the USCIS unless they're specifically asked for. Everything should be a photocopy!
