Hello friends

I'm just wondering when we read somewhere in the slec website to have your medical exam atleast 2 weeks before your interview date.

Our interview is on April 18, Monday. We planned to have our medical exam on the 13th of April which is Wednesday so atleast we have Thursday and Friday incase of something. Is this okay? :)

My assumption, you are Filing for K1?

2 weeks was advised so that should there be any problems, you have at least enough time and do not need to change your schedule. Medical is a 2 days process if no problems at all with all the tests. 2 full days of mostly waiting for your turn.

Will it be you or you have kids? For 2-14 years old they need a tuberculin tests that needs 2-3 days to get the result. Thus doing it on a Wednesday is very tight.

If it will be just you, you can keep the April 18 and if there will be more tests/ procedure required you can change your appointment date.

If the medical results are not ready for whatever reason, I suggest the OP go to the interview and get a 221(g) and not cancel the appointment. No harm now foul. In the event she may need to cancel the appointment later and reschedule she wont use up the only two appointment cancellations allowed before she has to pay again. Once the medical is finished it get's sent to USEM and catches up with the interview results for a final decision.

From USEM website: http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3218.html

All immigrant visa applicants, regardless of age, need to complete a medical examination at the St. Luke’s Medical Center Extension Clinic (SLMCEC) before the visa interview. Applicants are advised to have their medical examinations done 5-7 working days prior their interview appointment at the U.S. Embassy in Manila; failure to complete the exam within the prescribed time frame may result in significant visa processing delays. Applicants are also strongly encouraged to register online with SLMCEC at their website: www.slec.ph prior to their visit. Registering online will save processing time and make the visit to SLMCEC faster and more efficient.

:time:

Here is the embassy instructions for the medical (K-1 may be a non- immigrant visa but it is processed as an immigrant visa):

All immigrant visa applicants, regardless of age, need to complete a medical examination at the St. Luke’s Medical Center Extension Clinic (SLMCEC)before the visa interview. Applicants are advised to have their medical examinations done 5-7 working days prior their interview appointment at the U.S. Embassy in Manila; failure to complete the exam within the prescribed time frame may result in significant visa processing delays. Registering online will save processing time and make the visit to SLMCEC faster and more efficient.

SLMCEC is located at 1177 J. Bocobo Street, Ermita, Manila. They can be reached by telephone at (632) 521-0020 and (632) 521-8647. SLMCEC is open from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is best to arrive for your medical examination between 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Applicants are served on a first come first served basis, but the order of release of the medical reports will depend on the complexity of the results of the medical examination.
