hey does anyone actually wait till after the interview to buy tickets? is it too risky to buy them before?

Well...with this process there is always a risk. But you should know that passport and Visa Packets aren't handed back to the beneficiary the same day after approval. One could always ask the CO if it's possible that it could be ready in a matter of days but that's no guarantee. The average turnaround time, I believe is about 7 to 10 working days...and know that somewhere on here I read that the Embaddy slows down in June because they start processing student visas, but I could be wrong.
