Hey Guys!

So a little to my story, i'm german, currently living in Germany. My fiance that used to be stationed in Germany with me pcsed to fort polk a while ago. We now want to get married in July and we're planning on me moving to him. We tried to get as much info about the whole visa process as possible, but since we both don't have much clue, here is my question: my fiance went to the deers office (if that is what its called) to get information and the lady told him, that once we're married they are doing the whole process. So basically we're getting married he just enrolls me in deers and they do the rest. Me on the other hand read completely something else. With the Fiance Visa or the CR 1. So what is really true? Because I could not find any information on the web and I'm really not trusting this ladys statement because everyone who has moved to america from what I've read, has done it with a visa. I hope you guys can help me :(

Thank you!!

Deers will enroll you to get DOD card and you will be put on tricare insurance. For Deers I needed my passport, birth certificate, marriage license (it has to be translated if in German language, militaryonesource.com can help with translation). At that time they didnt require SSN but now I know some things changed and sometimes they refuse put person on Deers without SSN, it just depends who is in office and what they know about it, but you can be put on deers withou ssn. Or you can get ITIN number and that is accepted for filling out taxes. They dont have anything to do with immigration, some posts have immigration officer once a week who helps with paperwork and answers questions. You can do K1 for fiance visa or CR1 after you get married.
