hello all! I have a quick question. So my father is going to be my co-sponsor for the I-134 and I know I need to fill out one separate from him. I went to the bank to get a statement from my bank. They didn't type anything up for me, but gave me a log from this past year of all my deposits (that had the present balance on it as well) and two papers which were my account agreement papers stating when my account was opened up. Do I need a legitimate statement from a bank officer about all of this stuff? My dad got a statement from the bank (we have the same bank) stating everything, but I don't understand why they couldn't do the same for me. I called NVC and they said that the items I had were sufficient and that I don't need a legitimate statement. I find it hard to believe though. Also, I just took my W-2 to a public accountant and don't have this years W-2. I have last years though. This whole thing is so frustrating. Please help!!

My fiance did not take any of my bank statements nor did the embassy ask for them. I think you will be fine as long as you have everything else.

can you please define "everything else"? I'm sorry I just need to know.

That information is somewhat embassy specific and I don't know Canada. You know the things listed in the guide under "what to send your finace once the I-129f is approved". I assume you've been reading, researching, and using the guides. You should be receiving packet 3. It aslo contains that information.

Good Luck!

hello all! I have a quick question. So my father is going to be my co-sponsor for the I-134 and I know I need to fill out one separate from him.

Correct, each of you fill out a 134 form and attached whatever documentation you have.

I went to the bank to get a statement from my bank.

Why? Income is key. Since you need a cosponsor, your bank account balance is meaningless. To use bank savings, those are valued at 1/3 the bank amount towards the minimum annual poverty level.

They didn't type anything up for me, but gave me a log from this past year of all my deposits (that had the present balance on it as well) and two papers which were my account agreement papers stating when my account was opened up. Do I need a legitimate statement from a bank officer about all of this stuff?

No

My dad got a statement from the bank (we have the same bank) stating everything, but I don't understand why they couldn't do the same for me.

Is your Dad using his income as the basis for the financial support? If it is adequate then there is no need to include any bank information. I didn't.

I called NVC and they said that the items I had were sufficient and that I don't need a legitimate statement.

Now you know.

I find it hard to believe though.

You were told.

Also, I just took my W-2 to a public accountant and don't have this years W-2.

Why not? By law your employer was to mail them to you by Jan. 31.

I have last years though. This whole thing is so frustrating. Please help!!

what you have for bank statements is more than enough. What they need more than anything, is proof of you/your co-sponsors income. So, according to the I-134 instructions:

B. Statement(s) from your employer on business stationery showing:

1. Date and nature of employment;

2. Salary paid; and

3. Whether the position is temporary or permanent.

If you have that, then other evidence and the bank statements are only a plus to have, that show, for example, that the salary is in fact deposited every month. (you could highlight the salary deposits on the copies you send)

As for w2 and stuff, both you and the co-sponsor could just request a tax transcript from the IRS. They mail them to you and it doesn't cost any money. When you send tax transcripts, W2 aren't necessary.
