That was a terrible experience, actually... The Immigration Officer was very very arrogant!

She said our case is pending and that they'll make security checks on it and that she doesn't know how long it's going to take... Geez, what the heck are they going to check now?

I'm so sad! :crying:

--> April 20th, 2006 - 2nd NOA in snail mail!

--> May 5th, 2006 - NVC received and left

--> May 24th, 2006 - Pack. 3 received and left (never received package 4, so the Embassy sent me its content by e-mail)

--> June 26th, 2006 - Medical in São Paulo (Dr. Celso Rodrigues Fava)

--> July 11th - Interview APPROVED!! :D

--> July, 16th, 2007 - USCIS site: Security checks cleared. Welcome Letter in the way!

--> July, 26th, 2007 - GREEN CARD IN THE MAIL!!! (done with USCIS until 04/2009)

Removing Conditions on Residency

--> April 16th, 2009 - Sent I-751 Application to California Service Center

--> May 8th, 2009 - NOA received (1 year extension letter]

--> June 1st, 2009 - Biometrics appt. letter received

Really sorry to hear your story. It's so frustrating to get so far, and then have a setback like this. Here's hoping you'll be clear of security checks VERY soon.

01/23/2009: Biometrics appt letter received

01/31/2009: Biometrics scheduled

05/20/2009: APPROVED

06/23/2009: 10 Year Green Card arrived

But that's weird cause I've seen these people with FBI name ckeckings pending saying that they were approved and it's only missing the FBI name checkings...

The Officer told me that the case is not approved, it will DEPEND on the Security Checks... That's why I don't understand...

Well, you haven't commited any crimes, right? So your security check will be fine. The officer was probably just too rude to say it will be approved. But I'm sure it will be as long as you have no criminal history that will come up in the security check.

Hey, I am from Iowa, too! Where was your interview?? Ours was in Des Moines, but we had a basically positive experience.

5/23/03: Justin arrives to visit me in IA from SK.
6/7/03: We got married!
8/23/03: Filed I-130 from SK
8/25/03: Phoned border guards & asked if J could escort me back to IA, yes.
8/26/03: Arrive in IA
8/27/03: Went to USCIS local office to ask if J could stay in the US and file papers, yes
2004: I-130 approved!
6/05: Filed AOS/EAD
7/2/05: Rec'd receipt for I-485
8/05: Rec'd RFE for Biometrics
9/9/05: Rec'd RFE for medical
12/2/06: EAD APPROVED!
12/5/06: EAD card rec'd
1/15/06: AOS interview date for 4/11/06 at 11:00 a.m.
4/11/06: APPROVED!!!!!! NO MORE USCIS FOR 10 YEARS!!! WOOHOO!!! 2016...seems more like a page # than a year. Haha.

the term *approved pending security clearance* means just that - USCIS is satisfied pending a favorable result from the FBI. In my opinion the officer saying your *approved* is a misstatement. we are not approved?! a major component is missing and there IS no approval without that component. i wouldn't call my husband approved until we get the greencard in the mail, and we have waited over 500 days. stats show most don't get stuck for very long though.

You just had a jerk for an AO. What our officer said was 'everything else is in order' - meaning they were satisfied with the I864; they were satisfied I was an American Citizen; they were satisfied my husband was lawfully admitted; they were satisfied we were a bonafide couple - all that jazz.

There are several hurdles you must 'jump' for adjustment of status. One hurdle still incomplete mean the case is not yet approved.

The only thing I still didn't understand is if FBI name check and Security checks are the same... I don't know if that matters, but it's just a curiosity...
