Hello everybody!

I need advice on this: We are putting our paperwork for AOS together, and I had to realize that the A-number on our approval notice I-797C and the A-number printed on my K1 visa differ by one digit! (it's a 9 on the K1 and a 5 on the I-797C). On the I-94 the immigration officer put the number as on the I-797C!

Now which A-number do I put on the forms for AOS, or should I call USCIS about this before I hand in my papers? I would like to fix it before it gets one big huge mess...

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

Carla

I would just use the A# from the I-797C as I would imagine that is accurate and the one they used in your I-94. I don't think this is a major point of concern. The A# is just one of many possible identifiers USCIS can use and not everyone may have one. If you happened to give the wrong A#, it shouldn't delay your case and they would probably just fix it for you at the time of your AOS interview.

I had the same problem. My NOA for AOS is off one digit. My NOA's for EAD and AP were correct. When my biometrics appointment letter came, the A# matched the rest of my documents, and I just checked my interview letter, and it also is correct. I assume they noticed the mistake and corrected it.

My husband's A# on his K-1 visa is completely different from the A# that appeared on the NOAs we got earlier from Vermont Service Center. They didn't write an A# on his I-94.

We put his new A# (from the visa) onto the AOS/EAD paperwork and hope that it will not cause any problems. We are still far from our interview date for AOS so we don't know what, if any, consequences there will be from the difference in NOAs.

Thanks for your comments, everybody!

Guess I'll just use the A# on the NOA2 for the AOS paperwork, and add a note (or a copy of the K1 visa) mentioning the other A# and attach it to the forms...

These guys sure know how to confuse us, don't they?

lj_99_99: The A# is written on the back of my I-94, but barely readable!
