Im not sure if i really belong here because im not from the USA; Rather from Canada but my husband is from Algeria and im in the process of sponsoring him. Although I dont really post much on the forum for this reason; i do very much enjoy reading all of the posts and i have learned quite a lot; also during a time of crisis in my life; there were many kind Me/na women here who i cherished communicating with.

Anyways, after months and months of waiting also; my husband was called just this sunday past to the Canadian embassy in Algers for his interview. But we really dont know anything -he told me; it was almost as if the interview was trying to psych him out during the interview -can anyone tell me why it is so hard to show even a little bit of kindness in dealing with people ? Note the countless other posts regarding this pertaining to the embassies in Egypt and Jordan from what Ive read here?

So for the moment, my husband told me that they pretty well only asked him questions that required a yes or no answer -i kept imagining in my head that it would be something like in that movie GREEN CARD -where the questioners were trying to establish whether or not the marriage was real or fake =and i had told my husband to please restudy all of our file =so that he would be able to answer any questions regarding family etc etc -but there were no questions even close to that? Im hoping in my head that maybe, just maybe, they believe that the marriage is valid (which it certainly is) an that's why they didnt ask anything -they only photocopied his passport in the end and said the results of this interview would now go back to the main embassy in PARIS where NA is handled and they would be in touch. They did say to him though, that this interview was at the 2nd last stage -so i am hoping that the next stage is that magical phone call or letter to him telling him to come and get his visa/permanent residence papers.

So this is my 2cents worth for now. Its so frustrating and I feel so much whenever I read some of these posts from women who have been waiting and waiting forever it seems like. In our case it is very close to a year now since I filed the papers. All my best to everyone here on the forum. I may not post too often here as mentioned before; but I am always interested in the progress of other ladies here.

Welcome, to our sister from Canada. I am sure no one minds that you are here. I just wanted to tell you good luck, and I hope he has his visa soon.

Take care.

We're glad to have you join us here in ME/NA -- don't be shy to speak up and join in !

That's interesting that Canada sends the North African cases to the Paris embassy for final processing. Insha'allah you're almost finished, and will be getting visa in hand very soon !

Best of luck for a speedy completion, and a joyous reunion with your husband very soon (L)

Yes the Canadian embassy in Paris is the one that handles all north african and other african country cases for us. This of course causes delays because everything has to go back and forth all the time and they are so busy because of all the countries they have to deal with.

A couple other differences is that we have no Fiancee catagory -i went to Algeria to marry my husband which was by the Immam of course; but 2 days later we went and got Legal papers too at City hall because i wanted absolute proof of our marriage to submit. The other difference from what I have been reading on this forum -is that once he gets his approuval/visa/permanent residence status he will pretty well be able to work immediately. We dont seem to have to wait for other application forms to be completed like in the USA; from what Ive read here on the forum.

Now the anxious waiting and waiting for something to arrive from the Embassy is starting for us again :P

Wow very interesting to see how Canada handles the process at the embassy stage. So the consulate now sends it to a office in paris that overseas the office in algiers? I hope thats just the formality and they call soon for the visa.

And Welcome anytime to this forum!

Esalaam. Hello

Cool beans...

Mabrouk for the interview. I know Canada is much more difficult to get a interview then the US. But I know they generally deal with DZ much more easier then other countries.

I am currently in ALgeria with my husband, who I am filing for also.

If you like you could PM me... I would greatly like to talk to you.

Henia
