Hi,

I'm from the US, my partner is from the UK. We temporarily live together in Australia on working holiday visas. We're currently gathering documents to submit with the i-129f, which I plan to mail once I return to the US in a couple of weeks.

My question:

Could I possibly receive an RFE about my income or finances before the i-129 is approved?

From what I understand, the i-129f is mainly to prove that you've met and have a real relationship, and that the I-134 Affidavit of Support is submitted AFTER the i-129f is approved.

But I'm asking because of the Biographical Information form (G-325A) where you list 5 years of employment. I've been working low wage and temporary jobs between long periods of unemployment (for travel) for the past few years.

I want to file the petition as soon as I get home, since it takes so long to process, instead of waiting until I have a job in my field that pays at the 125% level, which might take a couple of months. But I'm worried that if I'm unemployed when I file the petition, or have a temporary/low wage job, that it might delay the processing of the I-129 if they need more proof about my income.

(FYI-- I might still ask my parents to help and file an I-134 Affidavit of Support when the time comes -- but they'll be more willing to help me if I'm doing everything I can to do it on my own...)

Thanks for any advice or information!

The data collected on the G-325A regarding employment history is for background check purposes, not to assess your income. You don't have to provide any details regarding how much your earned at those jobs. They just want to know which cities you've lived and worked in.

Your income isn't measured at this stage.
