Hello, my wife came over on a fiance visa and we were married within the 90 day timeframe. Now we are sending in the 485 form or Adjustment of Status. My question is on all the forms should we put her married last name (mine) or her maiden last name before we got married??

some of the documents from when we filed the fiance visa has her maiden name on them already, but what about on the new AOS forms?? Thanks for the help!!!

If she is taking your surname, use it and put her maiden name for "other names used"

What name will she be using from now on? Tha's the name she should use on the AOS forms.

Hi Sylvanmyst,

Good luck on your immigration journey. In answer to your question, file you AOS with your wife's married name (I assume that's the last name she wants to be known by) as it's going to be more of a hassle to get it changed afterwards when all the paperwork is already done. Just include a copy of your marriage certificate in your AOS application and on the AOS application in the "other names used" section fill it in with your wife's maiden name. I don't think you'd want to deal with the USCIS (Green Card), SSA (SS# Card), DMV (Driver's License), banks, etc. or any other people who you need your wife's married name, more than you should have to in order to notify them again of your wife's married name change!

As for my situation, I filed my AOS paperwork with my married name and have everything in my married last name and I am using that new married last name instead of my old maiden last name which I hated. I like my married last name, and I love my husband and feel that this is respectful for him and his family.

Hope this helps.

Ant

Do you think I will get in trouble if I use my maiden name as a middle name?

I really want to keep both names....

So can I file for AOS under my name/maiden name/married name

and then in other names used just put my maiden name as it appears on the passport?

I've done that already with my ID and SSN

and it works fine...

Please help me. :help:

We put it like that on ours, when married most want the maiden as the middle. Like the Philippines, they will move the maiden to the middle and put the married name last.
