1. Bonafide Marriage

Ours is a Bonafide marriage! We have maybe 1500 calls - About 500 sheets of chat/email etc, about 9-12 trips travelling to see each other in total, photos of meeting families - blended family members meeting each other and more. We have wedding photos, videos etc

Now, I am uncomfortable sending too many of our personal chats.

I plan to include

Pics: 4-5 pics from wedding, pics of our first meeting, subsequent meetings, single picture of each different country we may have met in, he with my kids, me with his kids, parents etc.

Meeting up proof: Perhaps include photocopies of our passport page with travel visas as most boarding passes have been tossed.

2-3 select online conversations beginning, mid, wedding planning

Life Insurance: Updated Benificiary sheet

Maybe a phone bill or two...

Is this enough?

Is it really needed to get affidavits from others - isn't their attendance at our wedding enough!!?

They can ask either of us anything about the other - we would likely get all of them right.

We do not have joint accounts yet - we married less than 3 months ago... I have sent funds into USC account to pay for some wedding stuff - he was tight on money and I wanted certain things a certain way :).

I have become uncomfortable when I read of a member who submitted 200 photos, FaceTime chat - 500, affidavits and more but got denied (other reasons?)!

We may not see each other till end of process now due to financial difficulties - they would understand that right?

My husband is a super private person and I don't think he wants to include a "How we met..."

Scanned form

G325a for non-US citizen - Is a scanned form enough? Generally all our forms are typed - that's okay right? Reading too many messages about handwritten forms

Interview

Way in advance question - would USC be allowed for the interview - if he happens to be her...

Quality not quantity! We have over 3000 emails back and forth but we sent maybe 20 that covered the whole time period. We sent ones that didn't just say "I miss you. I love you" and so on. We sent ones that talked about day to day issues like married couples do.

They will understand that you may not be able to see each other again until the process is complete for financial reasons. A relationship can still be genuine even if you cannot afford to travel to each other much.

Most international couples don't have joint finances yet. I sent a copy of my workplace pension that shows my husband as the sole beneficiary if I should die while still employed.

The G325a can be printed on a computer. It does not have to be hand written. But it MUST be signed with a wet signature. You cannot send a scanned copy without a wet signature.

Timeline

Unless you're going through a high fraud embassy, a small variety of bona fida evidence is enough. They're not gonna sit and read through 500 pages worth of chats or 200 pages worth of pictures. Sending that is just a waste of time and trees, unless going through a high fraud embassy. Focus on 10 to 20 photos of you two together and of you with family, some emails/chats from different times during your relationship and most importantly, proof of time spent face to face such as boarding passes or passport stamps. Just the visa page is not enough, you need to have a copy of the biometric page along with all the pages with entry stamps to the US or other country you visited together.

Signed affidavits from friends and family are pretty pointless. We included two with our petition, but that was before we found this site and realized how useless they are. Evidence of time spent face to face and ongoing communication are the kind of bona fida evidence they really want to see.

Most people doing the CR/IR-1 don't have co-mingling of finances so don't worry about it.

I used to visit my husband four times a year for the first four years of our relationship, due to some issues with NVC and some other things, I haven't been able to visit since May 2015. Wasn't an issue at my interview (Dec 21st 2015) so don't worry about not being able to see each other during the process, they will understand. And if they ask about it, you have a valid explanation.

All signed forms must come with an original signature, i.e. no scanned or photocopied forms.

Some embassies allow the USC at the interview, some don't. Check with your specific embassy, you can most likely find the information on their website under their visa q&a section.

Good luck on your visa journey.
