So you can pay a higher tax...

Ha. No, I didn't realise until I went there that I was filing for a tax refund. They wanted lots of receipts for my health insurance payments, pension plan, hospital visits etc. I didn't know where half the stuff was...I think I threw most of receipts away. When they worked out how much I would be refunded, I felt like crying. Wasn't worth showing up. Complete waste of time-can maybe dine out at a restaurant and have a great bottle of wine. Sorry, but this doesn't interest me. Edited by Jacque67

Well that was the only highlight;) the woman who was helping me that if I get my pension plan payments receipts reissued, I could come back, refile and maybe get a few more shekels repaid. She laughed when I said forget it. Had a whiskey after the ordeal. What a farce. Could never be an accountant.

A Japanese emperor was interviewing 3 samurais as his bodyguards. They were asked to demonstrate...

The first samurai tosses an orange in the air, draws his sword, and slices it into 4 pieces mid air....

The emperor was somewhat impressed.

The second samurai, said, "waw, me do better!"

He tosses an Apple in the air, "hi-yak!" He slices it into 8 slices midair....

The emperor says, "holy !" Looks at the third guy, "how, ah you beat that?"

Third samurai, takes out a sake bottle, opens the lid, a mosquito flies out. He draws his sword, and sheaths it at the blink of an eye. The mosquito flies away.

The emperor says, "waw....you miss!"

The samurai said, "that mosquito, he never again!"

I've been doing my taxes for years. Well, for some time I've had the Excel file which counts it instead of me :P

You have it easy, oj tak: Whether by hand or by Excel, your calculations will come out as follows:

Earnings: Many zlotys

Tax rate: Many%

Tax due: Many zlotys

We are envious of this elegantly simple system, oj tak.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.
