Oh I see what you're saying....

That's a weird construction...

It isn't a problem in the foundation walls from the 1940s, just the ones predating that.

Ever priced out a fix?

We've gone through some ideas, removing the soil around the house or pulling a waterproof material up and over that.

A real foundation fix would probably cost way too much versus the price of the house. We have to keep that in mind and that almost all of the houses of this age and in this area flood like ours.

I took off the insulating material so you could see. I uploaded it straight but it keeps rotating - the left side is the ceiling and the right the foundation wall.

I bet the waterproofing on the outside would help. Regrading below the foundation vs above?

Neither would be cheap but the regrade would be a fix I bet!

The old owner added a ton of soil outside to fix the issue and I think it made it worse, to be honest. This year's project might be attempting to remove it since it goes up a foot against the old siding. It is soo stupid to have done that.

Oh that sounds lovely. I miss fruit trees. Enjoy!

Meatball recipe?

It is, I will take some nice pictures when they are all full of flowers.

It's pretty basic, eggs I use 2, fresh bread about 3 slices, pop them in the processor to make bread crumbs and about 1/4 cup of parm cheese. I have about 4lbs of meat.

Now I know what you're talking about.

If you have a 1 story house. It's called "lightweight construction"

There is a DIY solution. it's slow, and tedious. Must be done slowly. If the ground outside is below the level of the joist.....you can "underpin" it. Support the joists with a adjustable support(s), cut away a section of the wall. 3- 4 feet at a time. "Build up" the foundation either by pouring concrete, using cinder blocks, or laying a 3 wreathe section of brick. Depending what the existing foundation is made of. This can be done from the inside. there are many types of waterproof, freezeproof materials you can use to assist in filling gaps, etc.....

Nobody builds houses like this, especially in the north. I wonder what the real story is behind the foundation, did it sink over time? Did something change outside? Was the whole town flooded many times to leave sedimentary fill outside that made the ground rise?

But, there's your fix. That's the easiest, cheapest, most correct way possible.
