They're probably not going to have electric for a few days, may be longer.

They're probably cutting more electric lines as we speak.

The city has to put out the imminent danger. (Fires, gas leaks, loose electricity, etc)

Locate and treat the wounded. Get supplies to the population.

Thanks for the well wishes. Still no electricity, death toll has climbed to 570. Help as gotten in with food and goods but family is sleeping on sidewalks for fear of going back in the few still standing houses and being crushed while sleeping. Aftershocks are still going on, and pretty strong ones - there was a 5 point something yesterday and a 6.4 the day before. We've been able to get through to friends and family and everyone is fine but miserable. Crime is out of control at the moment and people are breaking into houses or robbing at night while everyone is sleeping outside. We feel weird and wrong to not be there with everyone but I just don't know what to do. Very sad and at a loss.

Don't go there. Don't feel bad. This is one of those things that there's nothing you can do but keep vigil.

Just be glad that you weren't there.

Actually I would feel better if I were there so I could at least keep busy and feel like I was contributing. We've made a couple of drop offs at the embassy but it's unsettling to go about your day as normal when you know things are not normal.

Still, you're right - not much we can do. The whole situation is just awful.
