maybe, as long as they can knock the rest of them down first.

A few places in Europe I can think of that it would be ok to leave them in the apartment and run across the street to do laundry. Heck, it is ok to leave the kid in a stroller outside the front door of the apartment building while you chill out upstairs, this is not very different.

I am aware, I've had one. Americans are a little overprotective and reactionary when it comes to these things, though. Of course it is tragic, but it is different than leaving the kid all day at home alone or going out partying. It isn't something I'd do with a 2 year old or any age legally under the limit in America (I think here it is 8 according to the local social services), but I understand someone doing it.

Didn't work. They built all these huge apartment buildings that no one wanted to live in them. So, it became a ghetto.

In the 70s, they tried it again, in 2 places. Starett city in east new York (Brooklyn), and co-op city, in da boogie down. Didn't work, again. Both places became the ghetto some more.

Yeah....so...um....nah....nice try tho...

The alternatives to these locations?

Staten island, long island, Westchester, Rockland, outrage, NJ, CT.

The light rails made it possible.

I don't like Staten island, but it's the lowest crime Boro in NYC. Most of the people that work for me live there. You can still buy a mansion there for a million bucks or so. It's not too bad. Just stay away from the dump, Gump...
