Hey all, this may sound like a bit of a daft question but I have to ask...

Me and my partner use things like what's app to make calls and Skype every day. Obviously this means we don't have a phone record as such. The only thing I can think of doing is making screenshots of our calls. Does anyone think this won't be enough?

I would really like to hear some success stories if you have done the same thing.

I like to have everything in order and hearing other people's happy stories makes the whole process a little less daunting.

Thanks all :)

If you read the I-129F Instructions, it never says you have to talk every day or post your love on Facebook.

You have to prove--

The petitioner is a U.S. Citizen

You have met in person at least once in the last two years.

You each have to state in writing you are free to marry and intend to marry within 90 days of the beneficiary's entry into the U.S.on a K1 fiance visa. If either was married before you submit documentation that shows the marriage ended.

If you met on certain websites you have to do additional documentation to satisfy the IMBRA requirements.

Some people send a boxfull of screenshots of their conversations. You can get approved without all that. We did with no screen shots, no Facebook, no copies of our emails. My opinion, especially since you are from the UK--Stick to the requirements and don't clutter the application with so much extra fluff that they can't find the actual documentation they need to give approval.

Instructions. Enjoy the read. https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-129finstr.pdf

Thanks again! You're definitely a big help to me.

Me and my partner have been in a relationship for 10 months today. I have visited her twice in the US and she has been here to England once so far but due to arrive back here in May (which I am so excited for!) Neither of us have children or ever been married before.

She is 21 and I am 26 so only 5 years difference. I feel we have a perfect relationship and both families are happy with us being together. Her grandma even gave me her wedding ring (which feels like such a huge gesture of approval).

I don't want to clutter them with rubbish that they probably don't even care about just wanting to make sure I am able to provide them with everything they need.

When we have visited each other it has been for 2 or 3 weeks at a time so no concerns on the visit requirement within the past 2 years. Easy to prove too as I love to get pictures of the two of us together! Although I am not sure my phone date stamps them but I'm sure me writing it on there as advised will be enough.

This is going to be one huge journey but I'm looking forward to looking back and remember how we never take any moment for granted and also sharing my story and experiences with everyone who wants to know on here...

Remember photos are secondary evidence, and you can write the who, what, where, and date on the back. Good evidence to send will be passport stamps, boarding passes, receipts for places you have gone together (photographic evidence can back that up as well). We also sent some copies of cards and engagement ring receipt, but I doubt they really helped for anything. We had considered going through years worth of communications, emails, and letters... but when you think about it that would be a lot of clutter! :)

You'll be just fine.

Thanks for your response Yuna! :)

We have kept all boarding passes from flights and tickets and what not. Quick question though, what sort of proof of places we have been together will be required. We have done a lot of things together but obviously receipts don't really show much apart from a purchase being made or a event being paid for.

It sounds silly probably but we have done lots and lots of things like when we have been in the US together we have been to a football game together (first one for both of us), we stayed in Vegas for a couple of nights and just went wondering around, horseback riding and much more. In the UK we went to Blackpool to go and play on the arcade games, took her to Warwick Castle and Hampton Court, again and lots more but all I really have is card receipts to show it was paid for. I guess I have pictures in all these places so hoping this will be enough.

It's strange because I know we have more than enough to show we have a true relationship but I'm a bit of a worrier sometimes and think of a worse case scenario.

I honestly look at our situation and think it couldn't really be any better than what it already is. :)

Example of what I used to show I went to Oxford besides boarding passes and entry stamps. My bank statement showed cash machine withdrawals in Oxford UK. Just another thing putting me in his town corresponding with trip dates.

We also both bought something in a BestBuy near Houston using credit cards. The BestBuy receipt prints the cardholder name. So we had both of us in same store, same town, with time stamps minutes apart. In London we had purchases in Harrod's on the same date. No names on receipt, so we used our credit card statements to show each of us in Harrod's London on the same date. Everything we came up with was after the fact because we hadn't planned ahead to create this evidence. Think of what you might have that puts one in the other's town or both of you in another town together.

I photocopied things and added notes in red in the bottom margins so they knew what I was showing them..."receipts showing each of us in same store on same date."

I think grandmother's ring is sweet and special. I would add a close-up photo on the hand, printed on a page a paper so you could note it as "Grandmother supports our relationship. She gave her ring etc....." That's way cooler than screen prints of conversations and only adds one piece of paper.

Me and my partner chat mostly with WhatsApp calls for audio and Skype for video, when we applied I took about 4 screenshots of the WhatsApp call screen from about 12 months ago until the present and just added an explanation to the bottom and we just received our NOA2 approval with no RFE.

So just something like "Here is a list of our WhatsApp calls over the last 12 months, the number in brackets () indicates how many calls were placed that day"

We went on a lot of trips and dates.. you know dinner + movie type things. So there would be receipts showing dinner for two, movie tickets for two.. and we also included photographs of inside the restaurant and outside the theater (if they wanted to be super investigative you could even match up the food items on our table in the photo to the receipt too come to think of it!). I thought that these were all good correlating evidence to show that we had been together at the same place at the same time. If you have tickets showing you went to a particular landmark for instance and a photo to back that up it could be helpful. Not that everyone has something like that of course..

OP - I will re-affirm what Nich-Nick said. We had no skype/viber/phone/whatsapp/email etc in our package. We had our 6 trips, which we had to document with boarding pass, and full copies of both our passports (and circle the specific entry/exit stamps), our letters of intent to marry, the bio's and 3 pictures. Didn't even bother dating the pictures, because unless the photo has a tamper proof date (which digital ones do not), it is just a picture, does not prove you were together in the 2 year time window.

Unfortunately I do not have them taken on a digital camera only mobile phone. This is simply due to the fact that I brought a camera. Not top of the range just am average Samsung and it broke the first day while I was in the USA. Battery wouldn't stay charged at all and then the lense got stuck in the out position. When it finally went back in it tells me on start up it doesn't work basically. So that went in my bin. Pictures do date stamp on a phone however you have to go into the file to see it. I'm sure we won't have any issues with proof of contact as we are always in contact and as we use what's app I do email our conversations to myself so some clippings of this I would think will suffice along with other things that we can send :)
