My fiance and I are a lil confused about the affidavit of support ..my fiance n her mom have joint account and their total money at bank is about $5,000 wat do we do and also is it possible for me to find someone from Ghana to file the affidavit of support for my fiance

For the affidavit of support (I-134), the petitioner (USC) must show that her household income is equal to or higher than 100% of the U.S. poverty level for the household size. (The household size includes you, your dependents, any relatives living with you, and the fiance you are sponsoring.)

It is not only money in the bank, they should provide sources of income - such as jobs or business. ITR, W2s will also be required from sponsors.

NO, you cannot have someone from your place sponsor for you. It should be the USC or her relatived if they are willing. I am not sure if Ghana accepts co-sponsor. Check on that.

Assets are times 3 so 5,000 isnt enough and it's 125% unless your petitioner is in military. If you don't meet this, some embassies allow a co sponser for k1.

The affidavit of support uses the household income..

So first, use your fiance's gross income to match with the federal poverty guideline for her household size (if it is just her than you should look at 2 person household amount)

If her income for the past 3 years is not enough,

then you can add her mother's income through joint sponsor but the household size will include anyone in household.

Thanks u all for ur answers they really helping but nw wat am confused is about my fiance and her mom having joint account and also would need co-sponsorship so in that cause does my fiance and her mom both fill two different forms each for one then the cosponsores also fill another form too??? And also should there be like 3 or 4 cosponsores should each fill a form separately?????

Can anyone tell us more about the form, The Form i-134, Affidavit of Support expired on 02/29/2016 so can we still use it or is there any updated form which we are not seeing?
