'I-134 Affidavit of Support' Supporting Documents for K-1 at Guangzhou

Hello, our I-129F just got approved on March 4th. I have a few questions regarding the specific requirements on supporting documents for I-134 used for K-1 interview at Guangzhou:

(1) Do I need an employer letter?

(2) How many old W-2s and tax return files do I need? I read the K-1 instructions from CGI Stanley, which say 'The form should be accompanied by evidence of sustained income or financial resources, such as his/her most recent tax return'.

(3) If my annual income meets 100% of poverty line, do I still need a bank statement?

BTW, I am an active duty Army officer, if it makes any difference (besides my income needs to meet 100% of poverty line, instead of 125%).

Thank you very much!

Hello!

I went through this process in Guangzhou just 6 months ago, so I'll give you some help. The supporting documents instructions are generic, and not every consulate will look at everything. That being said, it never hurts to have everything they ask for as things change over time.

1) I included a previous offer letter from my current employer. The consulate did not ask for it.

2) You MUST include the most recent return, but I did include the last 3 years. The consulate only wanted the most recent return.

3) I included my most recent bank statement. The consulate did not want a copy of it.

They most likely will look at your photos during the interview, so don't forget them. They did ask my wife about how we communicate, how long we have known each other, and how many times/long I visited. Nothing too difficult.

Best of luck to you!
