Hello,

My name is John 25 years of age and is ready for the next step in my relationship with my fiance. If anybody can help me out with a step by step that would be so great I have so many questions that needs to be answered :)

-Well first is, do I just fill up the I-129F by myself or does my fiance need to sign it too?

-Second is, is that all needs to be sent to the embassy? Or do I need to mail them all the proof of our relationship like pictures, messages, boarding passes, etc?

-Third how long does it usually take if I file it this month? Also how can I choose which state to send it to? (Im currently residing in Illinois, do they process it faster over here)

-Fourth my fiance is Filipina, but she's working in dubai right now, Would that be a problem if she process all the paperworks in abu dhabi embassy?

-Also I got my US citizenship through naturalization, how do I prove that im actually a US citizen since I don'y have a birth certificate thats valid here.

-You're the petitioner, so you're the one who fills out the i-129f form and signs it.

-You send nothing to the embassy. You send a package with all required items to the Texas lockbox. See the guides in this forum if you don't know what things to put in the package.

-The whole process can take anything from four months up to a year, in really bad cases it can take even longer. The average is probably around 6-7 months for the whole process.

-Only California Service Center handles K-1 petitions right now. No, you can't choose.

-You get yourself a US passport as proof of you being a US citizen.

Thank you guys for the help, im hoping that by this month I can send the package already. Also one more question, my fiance is filipina and she's currently working in UAE right now is that going to be a problem? She already has all the requirements we need, im just worried that she might have to go back to the philippines embassy for the interview. Since there's already one in abu dhabi she can just go there right?

She can interview in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Just make sure when you're filling out the forms, the part where it mentions where she'll be interviewing to put that. Wherever the U.S. Embassy is there, I've actually been in it and can't remember which it is in. Anyway, great country. Dubai alone is worth the trip. Good luck to you.

Thank you shauneg. :) One more thing for the affidavit of support is there a minimum income required for it? I make $20,000 a year is that enough for eligibility? Im looking for another job just to save up more and increase my salary.

I became as US citizen because my father is a US citizen and I never got a naturlization certificate sonis it okay to just use my US passport for verification instead of having to wait for my certification? Also is there a certain amount of money you need to have in the bank to be eligible for petitioning a fiance?

My fiance is in dubai and im here in the US. Im about to file a K1 fiance visa for us. Before I send my I-129F do I need original copy of her G325A or can she just scan it with her signature and everything and send it over to me through email. So I can just use that. The same with the letter of intent to marry can she just scan her letter ad send it through email? Or is she going to have to mail both original papers to me?

Some people have gotten away with just sending scans of signatures but if you want to be on the safe side and not risk a request for further evidence I recommend she signs everything and mail the originals to you.

As well as reading up on the process of the K1 I also recommend reading up on what will happen once your fiance is here so that you're prepared and know when to do things like get SSN etc.
