Thats one of the best things about Trump. The lobbyist are fearful that they can't buy his vote. He has self funded his campaign and he is not in "debt" to anyone. Look how many politicians get elected on their so call principals and then when they get elected they have to pay back the "debt" by voting a certain way.

Same thing could happen to Trumpbut much less likely. He has an ego ,but he also wants to make this country great again. When politicians are bought and paid for one can understand the mess we are in.

The boys in Atlantic City think he is in "debt";)

H1b is regularly used in the tech sector to hire low wage workers. It is a problem.

Every employer who does this risks a civil penalty of - wait for it - $1000 per violation. Repeat offenders max out at $35000.

If they wan't to get serious - change that civil penalty to $500,000 per violation and see how many employers push their luck. Do the same thing for hiring undocumented aliens or any other unauthorized employment. Before they get to comprehensive immigration reform, they should try fixing the simple stuff. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Trump or anyone else to actually do this.

While on vacation several years ago I was informed my entire group was being let go and our jobs moved over seas. They also moved in a large amount of H1B and I believe J visa workers - usually newer workers got the H1B while more experienced workers that they were afraid of losing got the other visa which binds them to the employer (they can't look from another job without first leaving the country). By law the outsourcing company must "try" to find an American to do the work for local workers before bringing in an H1B. We found the employment notices on a cork-board in a seldom used part of our building.

This is done all the time and it has been successful in lowering average IT wages. Part of the proposed immigration bill would have raised the yearly allowed H1B visas - which these days are only available about 10 days each year - by over 100,000 per year (triple current numbers) and *also* allowed an infinite amount of 25,000 extra if the current allotment ran out. This would in essence make an unlimited amount available. These are just visas for someone to come in and work and send the money out of the country.. That's it.

When this bill was being proposed Microsoft testified before congress it needed more H1B visas because it could not find IT talent in the US. The *very same week* they announced thousands of IT layoffs.

Remember these were initially created for specialty positions: surgeons, rocket scientists, cultural specialties (ie: we have an Irish pub and would like a real Irish bartender), scientists in rare fields.. IT jobs were loop-holed in by companies to dilute the talent pool and lower wages.

I was happy to see the Disney employees speaking up as I watched so many of my friends go through the same thing... Seeing the politicians talking about it makes me a bit nervous because our knee jerk extremists are going to take up a contrarian position which then effects their sides candidates. "Trump likes it? I'm against it!" and somehow it gets re-imagined as a human rights or race or anti-immigrant issue. It's not - it's large corporations lowering wages, that is really what it is.

Agree 100%, and that's why it's hard to imagine there will be any real change. A lot of money involved, and politicians in Washington will get their cut.
