Good Morning VISA JOURNEY friends!

U.S. Consulate General

Casablanca, Morocco

Here is what Casablanca asked for:

VISA INSTRUCTIONS FOR FIANCE(E) NONIMMIGRANT VISA APPLICANTS

This office has received a petition entitling you to 'K-l' nonimmigrant visa classification as an alien proceeding to the United States to marry an American citizen. Please be prepared to submit the following documents on the date of your interview:

- PASSPORT: A passport must be valid for travel to the United States and must have at least six months validity beyond the issuance date of the visa. Children under 16 years old may be included in a parent's passport, or have their own passports.

- BIRTH CERTIFICATES: One original birth certificate of each person named in the application is required. The certificate must state the date and place of birth and the names of both parents.

- UNOBTAINABLE BIRTH CERTIFICATES: If an official birth certificate is not obtainable, present the best possible secondary evidence, such as a baptismal certificate, hospital certificate, school records, and/or a notarized affidavit from your parents.

- POLICE CERTIFICATES: Each applicant aged 16 years or over is required to submit a police certificate from the police authorities of each locality of the country of the applicant's nationality or current residence where the applicant has resided for at least six months since attaining the age of sixteen. Police certificates are also required from all other countries where the applicant has resided for at least one year. A police certificate must also be obtained from the police authorities of any place where the applicant has been arrested for any reason, regardless of the length of residence. Police certificates from certain countries are considered unobtainable. The consular office will advise you about any particular country.

- COURT RECORD: Original court record.

- PHOTOGRAPHS: Two color photographs are required. The photographs must be full face photos, taken within the past six months. A “full face” photo is one which the applicant is facing the camera directly. The photograph must measure 2 inches square (5cmx5cm) with the head centered in the frame.

- MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES: If you were married previously, you must provide proof of the termination of any previous marriage(s); (divorce, death certificates)

- CELIBACY CERTIFICATE: Original copy of celibacy certificate.

- MEDICAL EXAMINATION: Arrange for a medical examination with one of the physicians listed on the attached information sheet. You are responsible for the cost of the examination. A medical examination is also required for each child who will accompany you.

- EVIDENCE OF RELATIONSHIP: You are required to submit proof of a valid relationship with the petitioner. It is, therefore, useful to bring with you letters, photographs, e-mails, chat history or other evidence of your relationship.

- AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT: Original I- 134 Affidavit of support form and most recent year tax returns

- TRANSLATIONS: All original documents that are not in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation.

Enclosures:

1. Medical Examination Instructions

2. Appointment Letter

3. Important Notice

I have in my possession and am prepared to present all of the listed documents which apply to my case. I fully realize that no assurance can be given whether a fiancé (e) visa will be issued to me, until after I am interviewed by a consular officer.

We have our interview date for March 25th.

I just wrote the following email to the Embassy in Morocco but would love VISAJOURNEY feedback as well.

My fiance has gathered most of the documents and has made his medical interview for Tuesday, March 8th. He is also having the documents translated into English. My question now is, "Should he e-mail copies of these originals to you in advance or only bring them to the interview?"
He has his Passport and his National Police Report from Agadir. He applied for the celibacy (singlehood) certificate in Agadir and he can pick it up on Monday. He will leave for Casablanca after he gets this document. In Casablanca, he will get the Court Document, go to the medical appointment, and get a current copy of his long birth certificate. Then he will take the photos that you requested. While he is in Casablanca, he could send copies of this to the Embassy by Moroccan Postal Service or we can scan and email them. We will also print out more texts, emails and skype history of our continuing relationship. We know we need to translate them into English as well. Is he forgetting anything?
As for me, I have the Affidavit of Support and its documents. You ask for tax returns from the most recent year which would be last year and I will have a copy of that return but I filed jointly on that return. Of course it shows my income on there separately. The I-134 also asks for proof of salary which I will show from my teaching contract, proof of savings and one year of bank deposit history, which I got certified by my bank. Do you need a current W2 from this year?

The doctor's appointment will cost $160 for everything. That was with Dr. Ambari. I've read a few posts where people say to ask for a copy of these records for yourself even though I know they send directly to consulate. Anyone try this with success? We are paying for the visit after all. One person said this was beneficial because they didn't get approved right away and if they had had proof about their first doctor's visit, they could have saved paying for a second visit.

While he is in Casablanca he get a new birth certificate (they are only good for 3 months in Morocco), do the medical stuff, get an updated court document (also only good for 3 months) and I think he will have them translated in Casablanca but he might wait until he gets back home. He will be carrying the celibacy (singlehood) document with him along with the local police report from his current city of residence. These he can have translated in Casablanca too.

So send your advice VJ friends. AND please someone give some good CASABLANCA feedback for this month.

Thanks

Aysha
