The same way you say mine is.
Nonsense. I believe in the freedom of the person next to me. You clearly do not. You like to regulate what relationship the other person, as an adult, enter into with another adult. You want to limit the freedom of the person next to you by conforming their behaviour to what you feel is proper. I do not engage in any such thing.
I don't consider your view of freedom is in the best interest of a healthy society. It's not freedom, it's a lack of boundaries. While your laisee faire attitude may make you feel superior, history has shown such a turn to be the beginning of societal downfall. I have history on my side.

History on your side? Seems to me that those societies that value individual freedom are those that thrive while those that seek to impose conformity on their members are the one's in trouble. I've lived in both and take the former over the latter any day.

You're in no position to make that call. You don't speak for anyone but yourself so please

consider what's in your own best interest and let other people decide for themselves.

That goes without saying, but, for some reason, you felt a need to say it. Are you feeling personally threatened by my opinions?

Not unless you have a cult of followers in Washington who look up to you as the shining light and protector of morality :D

Carry on :P

I’m still wondering what these ‘historical examples’ are… as well as which societies apparently encourage alternative lifestyles…

Yeah, I was still waiting for the latter, too...

You guys need to learn how to google. Not everythingyou leanr should be handed to you. Do some research. Why is it so difficult to believe that there are perceptions of societal norms that are unlike your own?

Here's a site referring to one example:

Marie Claire magazine, US edition, did an article on muxes very recently. The Lakota have a version of this also.

Ancient Greece for one.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Making empty statements without supporting evidence isn't really very convincing. I can google - but surely the onus is on you (not us) to back up the assertions you are making ;)

Well the original comment I was responding to was in present tense as in "there are...", but fair enough.

I guess the question is whether Ancient Greek civilisation declined because of 'loose morals'. I'm not sure that it did...

i think it declined due to the invasion by other armies and the greeks internal fighting..

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

That must be why so little stated here is convincing. Ok, now you have a name and a site. Look it up. That's what American education used to teach, and the net just made it so much easier!
