Alrighty then, who will support it, rather than defend it?

Anyone prepared to defend Incest? Anyone?

Fine - I hereby give it my full support. I don't feel strongly about it either way, but since you asked... :P

Because an individual's moral compass tells them so I guess...

But... people are not born with moral compasses, there are no "absolute" concepts of "right" and "wrong".

If we grew up in a society which condoned murder, we wouldn't think it was "wrong" to kill people.

What the heck? Are you some kind of moral relativist? Oh wait... :P

I have a very good idea of what anarchy means, and lawlessness is not the definition I'm alluding to. I'm responding to the notion that all people have to do is want the law changed to suit themselves and that's enough reason for some to want it changed. That is not analygous to your examples. In those cases, the laws have been relaxed to allow for more law breaking. Law breaking is certainly not what I'm advocating.

Sure - but the law isn't 'fixed'. It changes over time - for all number of reasons.

And as I said, what is legal isn't necessarily right.

Incest is and has always been a social taboo. Homosexuality used to be too - but its more socially accepted these days than incest. I dare say that homosexuality is much more common than incest or beastiality.
There's an important difference between homosexuality and incest -- people don't

"choose" to be homosexual, any more than they choose their gender or race.

We all can choose our partners, however.

It's not always true that people don't choose to be gay. There are actually societies that encourage straight children to adopt gay lifestyles. It's also a fact that gay men and lesbians marry and behave like straights and straight men have been known to go on the "down low". Sexuality is not so cut and dried anymore than a preference for buxom blondes or tall, dark men is.
Which societies do this?

I'd like to know that, too.

...how come I'm suddenly scared to raise my kids in the US.......oh...that's probably because....I don't want my kids to think that it is OK to have sex with their parents..or...it is ok to have sex with the same genders.... somehow i feel i would be safer here in my society.....eh, but anyways.

This is just purely my opinion, and I apologize for my poor english.

I dunno if I'm being naive, but I think everyone actually knows the answer to all these deep inside, whether it's right or wrong. I guess I believe that human beings are smart and somehow, i dunno how, we ALWAYS know what's right or wrong...sometimes we are just in denial..trying to find reasons that make the wrong things sound right, etc. I had some friends who were gay and they said they KNEW it's wrong and they did NOT wish to be gay. But they could not help it... Even THEY were honest to themselves...so why can't we?

I personally do not agree with incest either. It does not need any written rules or any scientific reasons. Morally, it's just not right. i think people who think about screwing their own sister/brother, might have some mental illness..... It's so scary what the world has turn into.

This topic should not be discussed any longer. It's almost as bad as discussing which religion is right/wrong.

No, hedonism cannot be reasonable. It is based upon self-serving desire, thus, from it, you get brothers and sisters wanting to marry and people who are so open-minded about the possibility that their brains fall out.

Which is only unreasonable if you believe in god. You can't get past that because of your doctrine.

Where people make choices that are based on doctrine that I don't agree with, I will question those choices if I feel that they are illogical, ill formed and potentially harmful to the rights of the individual, that's my right. Yours is to defend your doctrine as and how you feel fit.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

First of all, you make it sound like most Americans are in incestuous relationships or condone incest. That is ridiculous. If that were true this German couple wouldn't be such a big story.

Second, you're assuming people are born with a religion-based moral compass. People really aren't born with any. For example, you say your gay friends KNOW it's wrong, but I would say that I have never thought it was wrong. In fact I don't see anything wrong with someone being themself at all. The only thing that shows is that you and I were raised differently. Morals aren't something you're born with. Your society teaches you them.

No I did not imply that ALL americans are like that. If it's true then I wouldn't be dating one! But the thing is, homosexualities and all that are way more common in the US than where I am. I guess I am just not used to that and it's rather scary for me.

And I did not assume that people are born with a religion-based moral compass, but they would grow and learn what's accepted and not accepted by the societies around them. The reason why my gay friends felt that they're doing something wrong, was because they realize the majority of society did not accept such thing. And mind you, my friends were atheists and were not indonesian so it's not from the religious side.

It's up to you if you agree with homosexualities or others, but I just stated that I don't.

Geez, relax a little =/ Just saying what I had in mind.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Homosexuality "and all that" may be much more under the surface where you are but that most certainly doesn't mean that it ain't as common in occurence as it may be elsewhere. Just because gay people in your neck of the woods feel that they need to hide the fact that they are homosexual doesn't mean that they're any less gay. They're just forced to deny themselves and live in supression. If that makes your day brighter, so be it. I happen to prefer places where people are free to be who they are. ;)

I think that it's rather unusual that they would feel this way if they were not religious. JMHO.
