All I'm saying is if proof is required for assertions, require it for all assertions. There's plenty of room for debate with much that is said here. Nothing immature about that. A debate is an exchange of ideas, supplimented by proof, not just on one side, but several.

Sure - but we have to start somewhere, and I'm interested in that particular argument (which you put forward) - which as I said is curiously specific, but relies ultimately on generalities. Without examples, there is no talking point and no possibility discussion other than who can shout the loudest. Clearly you can shout very loudly, but ultimately content is preferable to volume.

Jumped in kind of late here.... but has anyone thought that a loving couple, regardless of familial ties, sex, race, nationality, etc., would be better for society than the "traditional" couple?

Case in point; there are plenty of dysfunctional "traditional" homes out there where children are being raised in an environment that is not conducive to fostering a "good" person, and society readily accepts this. There are also plenty of homes of "untraditional" families where plenty of children could be reared (no pun intended) into "good" people who contribute to society, yet "we" (as a society) have not afforded them the opportunity to do this yet because of our "traditional" values.

Why not?

Why can a woman with no job and 6 kids continue to produce more children (AND KEEP THEM!) by several different men (who also have no jobs and several other kids by several other women) when there are same sex couples (with great jobs) that would love to raise a child?

Is it because the kid that grows up in a house that "we" pay for is going to be less likely to smoke crack and rape old women? Or is it because that's acceptable to us based on their upbringing, but a kid with two dads is not? We're too scared they might grow up and instead of smoking crack or raping old women, they may wish to go to work every day, never commit a crime, and instead of having a spouse of the opposite sex, may choose to abide by all of society's other rules, but still choose a partner of the same sex?

Also, Greece didn't fall because of being gay. Unless by "fall" you mean "repulsed the Persians (n.b. for those who get their history from the movies: Athens's navy was very important in smacking Xerxes back)", "conquered the known world", "invented a tradition of philosophy that lasts till the present day."

The Greeks lost to the Romans not because they were too busy painting their nails to put together an army, but because (for some value of "because") the city-state + alliance mode wasn't strong enough to defeat a very well organized Roman republic.

It was never alleged that any civilization fell because of gays. Hedonism was the term used. There are substructural reasons why they could not get their act together, but that is usually emphaiszed by social anthos and historians, not straight historians.

I noticed no asking for proof was required for comments made countering the hedonism theory. They're simply accepted as fact.

Maybe they just hadn't asked yet. But if you want us to argue about your hedonism theory, best to explain it a bit more, because as it stands it's a very bare assertion.
