Lots of broad brush statements have been made. You have pointed mine out because it bothers you. It does boil down to "I'm right, you're wrong". History, culture and law is what I do for a living. I know that each has varying interpretations. It has never been my intent to change anyone's mind, and certainly, mine hasn't been changed either. I have a pov, I express it, you can take it or leave it, as I can anyone else's I so choose. I'm here for banter, not for followers. Now, that would be different if you were in my classroom, but you're not, so lighten up. I gave you a link regarding the muxes, I told you about the Lakota having similar perspectives. History is there for anyone to explore. Go explore!

I pointed out yours because you are making specific authoritative claims with no corresponding supporting rationale. And you say you're not being defensive? It seems to me that if you have a strong opinion on the subject then it should be no sweat to properly and convincingly articulate it to put it beyond the reach of "I am right, you are wrong". Unfortunately it seems a lot of the time "won't" really means "can't".

I know you don't like to look things up, but if you did, you would find that wit is an intellectual form of humor, not the lowest form. At least I have a sense of humor. You could use one.

Me? I do believe in individual freedom. You do not.

You decided that I don't believe in individual freedom, which means that you attempted to usurp my freedom to define myself. I believe in setting up boundaries and in limits to individual freedom, which does not preclude individual freedom, but does limit it because, not doing so eliminates freedom for anyone.

What qualifies you more than the next guy to define said boundaries? What makes you better than that next person? What gives you the right to decide?

Again, it is not me that is looking to invade the other person's private sphere. It is you that wishes to do so. You feel the need to regulate what another can do. Hence, you must feel special in some way that you think you know what another does and does not need ion terms of individual freedom. It's a rather arrogant stand and I wonder what it is that makes you feel entitled to make those decisions for another person?

Some people, by virtue of what they call their superior education and qualifications, feel they are way above the rest of us. That's where (IMHO) the suggestion begins that they are entitled to decide.
