Amendment..with interview coming.

Is there anything I can do?? I know nothing about taxes. I told the woman doiny my taxes i was married, but she insisted on putting single and once hes here, we will amend to married.

After reading forums, i realize it should of been married filling seperatly.

The problem is...the interview is April 19th. If we amend it, what if its not ready in time?

Can we make a copy of the amendment?? Will tbat suffice?

you could have claimed him doing the W 9 form with taxes for his ITIN

change it to SS number when he gets here

Now, unless you require an actual IRS tax transcript... you can simply take a copy of the amended return to the interview.

An amendment doesn't take that long to prepare, it can be done in as little as 1 or 2hrs. Not sure you'd want to go back to that place/person to prepare the amendment so maybe look for another independent tax preparer.

Also, you might want to amend to MFJ (most favorable) but that's another subject. If you want the easiest/fastest way then just do MFS.

Yes, you don't necessarily have to have the same person who prepared your taxes do the amendment as well. You can go somewhere else to have it prepared.

An amendment takes at least 6 wks to process but that doesn't mean you can't take it to the interview. Your copy is an actual copy of the amendment you filed. That's why double check your requirements... but unless they require the official transcript then you can take copies of the return itself.
