Greeting everyone ,

Hopefully you all can guide and point me in the right direction. My husband is a permanent Resident , his 15 year old daughter who was born and lives in Monterrey Mexico wants to come to high school in California with us. She currently has a Visa to travel to the states , she just visited us in southern California this past January. What is the fastest and correct way to get her to come to the states for school, I would love for her to be able to start this next school year. We haven't submitted my husband citizenship paperwork because we haven't had the money to pay the fee's but wondering if there is another way. Please Help, thanks so much.

-Blessings

Get his citizenship and then petition for the daughter.

As a foreign student the daughter wouldn't be going to school for free. The school district would charge tuition. Would that fit into your budget?

But you can afford the school fees?

You could sponsor her to immigrate.

If you as the USC step mom sponsor her for an immigration visa, it takes about a year. She could come to study for as long as she wants, no school fees, and if she wants to return home, she can.

An F1 student visa would be quicker, but success rates with a greencard holder father and USC mother will be low, plus it would mean you need to pay school fees.

Is there anyway to adjust the status of the current visa she holds ??

She has a visitor visa to visit. She needs an immigrant visa to immigrate.
