Blue Shield Insurance Card -- AOS

So, we enrolled for some healthcare during open enrolment and opted for a Blue Shield PPO that was affordable for us. The cards just came in the post and both cards have only my husbands name on them. We were hoping to bring along the new cards as another piece of evidence for our AOS interview on the 9th, but it looks like my name is on none of the pieces of mail from Blue Shield. We do, however, have a piece of mail from Covered California which mentions my name and the proof I need to supply for the coverage. If we bring this along, would that suffice?

Is there any way for me to get my name on a piece of mail from Blue Shield or is this standard?

You can email blue shield and ask that they show you are covered, or see if their online portal will show you as covered. All of my husband's insurance is the same way, it just has his name on it, but I emailed the insurer who provided me with feedback that I was indeed covered and provided that with the card for my ROC. I would assume this would also work for your AOS.

That's odd. We have a similar plan to yours, and my husband's name is on his card, even though I am the main policy-holder. There should be some policy information you can print out from them with your name on it I should think.

For instance on my card (which is not blue shield) says that only the policy holder's name will be on the card. But you're right that there should be somewhere that states both people are on the policy.

Your husband can log-in using his user name on their website and you will see yourself as "Covered Adult". You can take a screenshot and print it. This will work.

My husband got us insurance through Covered California, not an employer. He started up his own business at the beginning of the year, so is self employed. But thanks for that!

Thanks to everyone, I'm going to log into the Blue Shield portal tomorrow. Luckily we also received a letter today saying who was covered with both our names on, so a win on both accounts!
