Hello,

Mu husband had his interview on Oct 21, 2016 and he was approved and they took his passport. Then 2 days later we get an email 221g stating they need case details for an arrest that occurred in ES in 2004. My husband was not aware this was on his record, every police record we ordered was clean. We obtained these records and sent them in, this was for a false charge someone made against him that he was never charged with, nor did he ever go to court. I am just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and how it turned out.

My husband had his interview in February 2016 and also was asked for papers about an arrest from when he was 16. He also was not charged with an crime, and we have sent proof showing that, but have been stuck in administrative processing for 8 months now. Still waiting fot an answer. I wish you the best of luck and that they do not make you wait as long as we have!

Oh wow! That is what I am afraid of. What proof did you send? We were able after 3 weeks to obtain the case details, as well as a letter the officer at the police department created for my husband specifically for immigration stating he had no charges against him. Have you contacted your local congress or senator? 8 months is entirely too long, they have to realize families are being separated. We have 3 kids, I am now a single mom trying to hold on to our home and everything we worked for on my income alone. If you need anyone to talk to you can just reach out. Everyone says it will be ok, don't lose hope, but unless you are in this situation you really cannot relate.

We also sent papers from the police department with all the details of the arrest and stating clearly that there was no evidence or reason to convict him of a crime. He never went to court or anything even! These papers were sent in April. I contacted local congress and he emailed the embassy for us, but the embassy replied in September asking us for the same papers again. So we sent them again at the beginning of November. No reply yet. I am sending a letter to our senator tomorrow to see if he can help. We have 2 kids and my husband missed the birth of our youngest because of this. We are very close to losing our home as well. Although I'm sad that you and I are going through this, it is nice to know someone else feels my struggle! Have you heard anything back from the embassy since sending the papers?

I'm sorry you are going through this too. Have you had any updates on your status?

After our first 2 months they updated the "status updated date" to Feb 11th. It's been over another 2 months and they haven't done anything with it. I still get the "we can't tell you anything" answer when I email. I tried calling but it's worse than nothing. Just aggravation.

What ended up happening with your husband? My husband has been in AP for a month and the date changed last week (3weeks since last date change) our attorney sent an email and they said they haven't reviewed his additional docs yet!

Hi Missie, any updates on your case? My husband and I unfortunately have found ourselves in a very similar situation. Hoping to learn from your experience. Thanks!

So my husband was approved 12/29 and we received the email for addtl docs on 1/2/17. He sent them immediately. In March a coworker suggested I reach out to my local senator and I did. They have an immigration department who reached out to the embassy in El Salvador. 3 days before Easter which was in April he had a second interview. April 17 he was approved and was home by April 21. I wish you the best of luck it was a long road with lots of dark days

Hi! Well Praise the Lord my husband got issued his Visa and was back home on December 9, 2016. All I can tell you is do not lose hope. El Salvador is not an easy country to process through. What is your story, you can message me if you'd like.

Hi Jsic,

Quick question. When you wrote your senator/congressman, did you have to state which "agency is involved?" My congresswoman's form requires I list the agency involved and I am not sure whether it is USCIS, the US Consulate in San Salvador, or something else?
