Hi, I got married last 02/18/16 to my wife and i am planning to file i-130 for her. I am a US permanent resident.

Here are some of my questions:

1. Should i include photos with dates as proof of our relationship when i submit the i-130?

2. We have the marriage contract and birth certificate ready for the application. What else should we include in it?

3. Since we just got married,my wife is still in the process of renewing all her valid IDs and new signature. Should i wait for that before submitting the i-130?

4. Uscis.gov states that they only need the forms, marriage contract and birth certificate as requirements. Does this mean that i don't need to send a copy of my wife's passport? I don't want to send it right now because her passport is still not updated. My wife is in the process of renewing it to add my last name and change her signature.

I would like to file the petition asap that's why I'm trying to avoid submitting any of my wife's old IDs without my last name and her new signature.

I hope that u guys can help me. Thanks!

Welcome!

Here are my answers.

1. Yes. Include any and every evidence of a genuine relationship that you have. Photos, letters, cards, emails, phone records, plane tickets to see each other...

2. See this for the full list of documents needed. http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1

3. No need. She can spend the next months getting her ID updated as her ID is not needed at this stage.

4. No need to send your wife's passport at this stage. That comes later.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

All the items that u said in #1, is it okay to just send photocopies of it or should i give them originals?

Birth certificate and marriage contract are copies only right?

Please read the instructions. EVERYTHING should be photocopies unless specifically stated.

Thank you. How long does it take usually for the process till we get the result of i-130 petition if the petitioner is a US Permanent Resident?

at the time of filing I-130 you dont need to send photo`s only legal documents they asking on USCIS.gov.

photos and other stuff will be needed later after I-130 gets approved.
