04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

just mail. they didn't ask us to upload anything.

we really thought it would take much longer because we sent in at least 50 pages of documents (2 separate i-864's, 2 sets of tax and salary transcripts, bank certificates, etc). we expected them to need much more time to check them compared to other 221g's where the required documents are pretty much straightforward and don't really require much processing/reading through (ie. birth certificate, NBI clearance, etc)

i hope your visa comes soon! ☺️

Hi were also under 221g AP due to lack of proof of domicile.. my husband is been living in the Philippines for the past 11 years and decided to go back home..during our interview the consul ask us if he has house in the US and we said NO we were planning to get one as soon as we arrive in the US.. apparently the consul advise my husband to go ahead first to get atleast a house rental.. my question is, the address we submit and use during our application is in his son’s address but since my husband want to move in Alabama and re-establish his domicile there that’s what he want us to live for good.. will it affect my visa? if we change address?..

I did not also receive any email from the embassy.. the consul handed me a 3 papers with her signature and the documents we need to submit. and my status is AP right after my interview.

This is kinda frustrating for us and hard for my husband especially that he is disable and having a lot medical problems and can’t handle all the stress doing house rental.. getting driver’s license, medical care...ect all by himself 😩 my husband is flying to the US next week to start process everything

Hi all

Do i need to submit the passport along with the all said documents for administrative processing??

can any one help with this?

Does it mention returning the passport with the requested documents?   Most times it states to return the passport at that time.   Would be difficult to process the visa without the passport on hand ;)

I would hold on to the passport being there are not instructions to return it.

The embassy will ask for it when they need it.

Of course you can always contact the embassy and ask.

And probably the best course of action.  When in doubt,  ask .....

YMMV

Do realize that the embassy changed their process just a few weeks ago, not too many have experienced this yet.  Before they kept the passport, now if they issue a 221g they return the passport.

I do know of a few that received the 221g recently, their 221g included instructions to return the passport with the documents.
