Hello,

I filled my fiancés ds160 form online on 2/6 and we recieved word from the embassy that her interview is 3/6, this Sunday. Is there any issue with me filing so early or if it expires?? Will the embassy be suspicious if we were to file a new DS160.

Just to clarify we recieved word from the embassy around 2/22 that her interview will be on 3/6

Other people can assist you with your visa application. Note that under U.S. law (22 C.F.R. 41.103) you must electronically sign and submit your own application unless you qualify for an exemption. Even if someone else helped you complete the application, you (the applicant) must click the “Sign Application” button, or your application may not be accepted.

Mr Hank I think you misunderstood

We filled completed the DS 160 earlier in February before the embassy even notified us of her interview date for the K1, is there any issue or expiration date if I was too file early??

The DS 160 when submitted will not expire in 1 month. The 1 month limit is when you started doing the DS 160 and save it for completion later. You can edit the DS 160 and submit within the 1 month time frame. You have 30 days to return to a partially completed application. To access your application after 30 days, you must save it to your computer hard drive or a disk.

The DS 160 will remain in the system when signed/ submitted. The same with the MRV one month validity to use for payment purposes, when paid it remains valid.

Hank has a valid concern- the DS 160 should be electronically signed and submitted by your fiancee (the beneficiary). Otherwise, you signed it for her which is violation of the statement quoted by Hank above.

I know this is going to get a lot of dislike but for our K1 interview coming up, if I was to fill and sign the Ds160 for my fiancé, is there anyway the embassy would know

I had a question

On the confirmation page, it says given name then my fiancés name, is that the signature name provided or the name on the first part of the DS 160 form?

yes, there are people who did that; they re-do the for and let the beneficiary clicked the sign button.

I am on the same house as my kids but I let them read the terms and conditions at the end and click the sign button. beneficiaries have to understand or at least read those statements. we should know what we are signing right?

the electronic signature was there for a reason, systems/ docs can be traced by IP addresses where it was signed and sent. Thus yes, the embassy would know.

filing up the DS 160 will not change anything on your interview schedule. The schedule remains as is even if you re do the form now and let your fiancee click the sign button.

The signature is a button that you need to click to sign the form - that is an electronic signature. No physical signature required nor any signature appears on the DS 160
