I’m petitioning my parents from the Philippines. Here’s my timeline: I-130 sent 02/25/16, delivered 03/04/16, NOA1 03/08/16 (Nebraska), I-130 approved 04/08/16, case sent to NVC 04/19/16. I know it will take weeks or months for another update but I’m starting to gather civil docs and filling out the AOS. I do have questions about the AOS for you guys. My wife & I file our taxes jointly, do we need to both fill out the AOS? If so, I am the petitioner, do I fill out the I-864 and my wife the I-864A or both of us the I-864?

Atcs it's takes just one month to approved your petition right?Nebraska is faster then.

Saheed ... Phillipines petitions are expedited so don't base processing times on them. The rest of us have to wait the normal time. If anything, them expediting Phillipines pushes us down the list further. Sorry to burst your excitement there but best to be realistic.

Regardless, Nebraska does appear to be speeding up but that only takes us to 4-5 months processing (average around 130 days currently) rather than the 6 months it has been in the past. So we are still hopeful.

As far as I know Phillipines and Filing from abroad are auto expedited. And then there is DCF. These you can't take timeline seriously.

"Some" filing from abroad seem expedited. Usually intercepted at the lockbox address and sent to California. For those of us (myself included) who the lockbox sent to Nebraska Or anywhere except California I would assume we are in the non expedite list from all my research.

Take the timeline summaries as a guide ... They give a good estimate for your particular service centre. However exclude Phillipines ones from your research as they don't count. And don't compare for example my case at Nebraska with another case at Texas or anywhere else. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

But the timeline is very helpful if following and comparing to others at your centre :-)

Hi,

I submitted my I-130 application on 28th March 2016. I received an email 3 days later on 31st March stating that the case has been accepted and routed to Nebraska service center and in 7-10 days I'll receive the official receipt notice by standard mail. I haven't received the mail yet. However, since I have received the receipt numbers in the email and can follow the case status on USCIS website, do I really need the form I-797 that USCIS sends through standard mail? Does it contain any additional information that is not there in the email or the My cases status tool on the website? I'm currently living in Dubai and from what I've heard the mail coming from US do sometimes get returned due to the PO Box system here in Dubai. Going forward I'm planning to change my mailing address so that the same problem does not occur with future notices. However do I need to tell USCIS to re-send me the NOA1?

Regards,

Yasir

That's good to know that petitioning parents from the Philippines is expedited considering that if I petition my brothers it will take 24 years.

Really... 24 years?? Well the reason for the expedite is because of the tsunami I think. Correct me if I am wrong.

It's funny how I always saw Myself as February filer when I had sent it at staples on 29th. Obvious it left staples on the next day 1st march. Now I'm going to accept I filed it March instead of February.

you are right the tsunami.. and besides, Philippines and US have a long history. Philippines used to be U.S. colony and they are basically treated like the last born child in the family...lol

You should search within the appropriate forums for help. We haven't got to your stage and answering your question here will just create confusion for those of us yet to get to that stage and new posters.

Good luck!

Wow that's crazy fast! Congratulations! What service centre was it at, and what country did she file from? (I looked at your timeline and see it's not yours, so not sure where to find this info for myself). So exciting for you!! Did she request an expedite or just that USCIS worked in her favour?
