my passport pho5to was missing so i send it and it been a month now i havent heard of anything yet and i dont know y passport photo are taking long just 1 piece of information was missing in my file that i forget to put it in i didnt know that they neeed that informaiton but i am stilll cusirous y is it still taking longer time after they recieved my RFE at the center on july 7 2016

and again nvc should also speed up the process and keep 10 to 15 assosicate and employee on the computer to put the cases in computer and get the work fast as they take this much fees ans so as USCIS

Just to confirm, your case is at the USCIS at this time, correct? If yes then you are waiting for an approval, right?

So they require passport photos of your husband and not your, and if they are doing a background check on him, they need a photo to match it with. All the details of the information was provided on the website of USCIS. USCIS is a different department from NVC, so remember that they start a petition or a case and then they forward to NVC, which starts country specific cases and then forwards it to consulate offices abroad where a case is usually handled.

As far as the length of time, you have to remember 2 things: 1) it is a government office and there are not that many people working. sometimes they are backlogged and often cases are just sitting there. My dad's Naturalization case is still in the slow line while all of us, his family's cases, have been done and over with. We are all US citizens and his is still sitting there in a slow line. He got an info pass but that didn't help and it's been 9 months already and just started with 10th month and usually naturalization cases get done within 6 months. Anyways the officer who may have his case might be working on older information or have not gotten to it yet. there could be many reasons why the process is slow but each case is different. I know that at the NVC stage if you miss something, even a tiny mistake, they push back by 60 days. However your case and like all other cases at uscis, it is within the normal processing time, which is 6 months. 2) the second reason could be that it is pushed back by certain days or that they need more time to investigate or complete the investigation.

My advice would be to call USCIS and ask them to speak to a tier 2 officer, tier 1 officer reads from the website, but tier 2 can give you further information often. That is how i found out that my case was approved and they hadn't updated it yet. that say day they updated my case.

I hope this helps. But hang in there and it will come.

okay so i would certainly suggest that be patient when dealing with anyone from USCIS. It helps a lot.

So when I first called, the tier 1 officer told me the same exact thing that tier 2 officer would tell me what tier 1 said. Of course by being here on VJ and by reading a lot of other people's experience, I knew that that would not be true because the tier 2 officer knows a lot more than tier 1. Tier 1 reads what is on website and it was confirmed to me. If you don't get a nice tier 1 officer, you can always call back later and try again. My first time, my call was disconnected by accident. so i tried calling and speaking to tier 2 office few days later and well it did the charm for me. So yes go ahead and call to speak to tier 2 officer.

best of luck!

Well like i said, if you encounter someone who is not willing to transfer you to tier 2, call again at a different time or day. you have to remember they are backlogged and are human as well. be nice to them no matter what.

Just got approved this afternoon, eek!!!!!!
On our NOA1, Our Priority Date said 15th of March, but our Notice Date said 17th, so I just took it as the latter? Just over 4 months, tears came to my eyes as I saw it on the USCIS App today!

Okay i am sorry but that doesn't make sense. Did you really speak to a tier 2 officer and he/she said he/she doesn't have time?

When you call and tier 1 transfers you to tier 2, there is an automated system that lets you know the current wait time and it tells you that leave your number and they will give you a call at certain amount of time. They do give you call back, even if it is longer than estimated time they give you. I have had that happened to me. They gave me a call and I waited patiently.

I know it is hard, believe me. I am away from my husband, who is in Pakistan and I had an arranged marriage where we only got to see each other only for 3 days after our engagement and then I came to usa. for almost 2 years, we didn't get to see or be together after engagement. we got to see each other 2 times right before our marriage earlier this year and then we got spend 3 months before I came back here. I am finally going in august but it was hard for me to wait and book my ticket based on the wait but you have to be patient and be positive.

so far potomac center has been fast, I have been following it closely. it is possible they are getting back logged or more applications are coming in in the middle of the year but they are still fast.
