No expedite or any special circumstances, I was also surprised when I received the approval on May 9 but extremely thankful. currently waiting on the phone right now for an nvc agent so I can change my husband's mvc case number to montreal instead of manila.

Manilla? If they thought you were from the Philippines that may be why yours was done so quickly!!

And yes, it's been a heart-wrenching ordeal so far for sure!

Exactly my thought after reading other comments. I just got off the phone with an nvc agent. I now have to email nvc and request for a change of case number and attach a copy of my husband's canadian passport but he said it will take some time before they can update it. he informed me that I can still send AOS and other documents that is on the next step of process while waiting for the case number to be updated but I am worried that if I do so they might continue his process as a beneficiary from manila and schedule his interview there. So I guess even if my petition was approved so quickly there will now be delays due to the wrong case number.

I was just talking about staying positive and got approved today...!

Congratulations to you. positive thinking is key

Ah they got confused and thought it was Philippines. Apparently, they get auto-expedite. So you should be glad for the screw up that they got your country wrong.

Extremely glad and now hopeful that the request for a new case number will not take too long so I can go ahead and send AOS and other documents so we can get ready for interview. positive thoughts!

Definitely a lucky break for you - just keep going along with the process and they'll eventually get the embassy changed. I wouldn't worry too much about that.

So do you suggest I continue to follow steps on the nvc letter (aos, Ds-260 etc) even if case # have not been corrected yet.

That would be my vote, especially after hearing the NVC agent suggested it. I can't imagine it'll take longer to get an embassy change than to get a case complete. Someone else who may have gone through this very thing may have more information.

You wait for first NOA.. the case number prefix will tell where it was transferred to.

And you don't need a lawyer unless you have a complicated case. Use the guides here to help you.

Someone tried to convince me to get a lawyer too but from what I have read on this forum, some lawyers can mislead you. I'd rather make my own mistakes than to sit through someone's mistakes.

Absolutely correct. It takes extra time to understand the process, but I can't say this enough: Having a lawyer does not mean you don't have to understand the process

I have a lawyer. It's not saved me any time (and cost me some) and just cost me money. This site (and the people, of course!) are worth WAAAAAY more than a lawyer. If you do want a lawyer to double-check your forms, that's OK, but I would advise against getting one unless you need waivers or other complicated tactics.
